I have been playing this game for nigh on 7 years. When the Foreign invader/bloodcrows started, it was a pretty good idea however, what seemed a good idea (duping those into thinking that we were attacking real players from other servers when in reality, most knew that they were simply AI castles) has been a joke for the best part of the last 3-4 years. If most of us are lucky, we can get 2k with a 90/90 castellan and decent courtyard, however, the reality is that we seem to get castles that are around the 450-900 mark with casts that are relatively strong, and then when it comes to more than 1,500 troops or more; either 45% of them are attackers trying to defend, or there is a weak castellan. Either way, most are duped into using their hard-earned horsetails, most are duped into buying Royal banners, most are duped into either paying rubies to get more defs (whether that works, I couldn't tell you as I am not a ruby player) or use their tablets/tokens that they worked hard for in other events.
I will tag @Philt123 (GB1) and see what he thinks of the situation and having read some of his posts, he does present not just one, but many valid arguments with regards to events, PvP, outers, password sharing and multi-accounting. I am not in his league as far as being a multi-million might points player, however, I am sure that he shares exactly the same concerns as we all do; we want GGE to either get rid of FIs/Crows because they have outstayed their welcome or, try and revamp them, make them tougher and more realistic than they really are. I say that simply because most of us (a majority I would have to say) have the impression that as level 70 players, we are attacking castles that are about a level 35-40, if that. I have been in this game too long now and have made many friends and aquaintances, but even as a hard core player, I am becoming disillusioned with it all. When players invest their time, their money and making sacrifices just to forget about real life for a while; they do so on the premise that they would like to enjoy themselves.
It is about time you brought some new ideas into the game, especially the FI/Crows, give the players a new found excitement that they have always craved. Giving out many thousands of horrors is great for the morale, but then that morale is shattered when the next spy report shows only 460 defensive troops. Personally, I would have preferred to lose all my horrors and attack robber barons in green, that is how bad it is getting. So, for the good of the game, I am begging you, whoever you are who reads the forums, we are the players, we are the ones who help increase your finances every year. We are the ones who do exactly what you say by hitting events, by playing the game as it should be played. If you don't listen to players who have experience in this game, who will you listen to. We are on the front line and we can give you the feedback if necessary. All we ask is that you try and communicate all this feedback (not from my post but many other players too) to the game producers, those who think up storylines, those who continually develop the game. Please tell them that we are NOT happy with the game as it stands, and sooner or later, you will lose your gaming base. You claim that you have millions (according to wayback machine) yet, from the numbers seen in Outers or BTH, this is quite far from the reality. If this was a gaming version of a dripping tap, sooner or later, the washer is going to break and there will be flooding. Think about it, sleep on it, then reflect as to what you are putting the players through.

i totally agree, GGE have spent the last few years making players stronger and stronger, better troops, better comms, more bonus's gallentry moe troops on tront and flank, etc etc. HOL 6 waves extra troops strength etc., Gems now 9 waves. you have basically spent the last few years making strength stronger and stronger and spent the last few years making FI / crow castles easier. so basically now its got to the point for most crows / fi castles are basically nothing more than tool cleaners.
To add insult to injury GGE had added a new alliance bonus to increase the strength of your troops / comms even more!!!!
I mean why on earth you need an extra 32% strength to kill 400-500 troops you already have them outgunned about 10-1
The balance of the game is totally screwed, on the one hand you have events where by its totally and uttertly impossible to defend samurai level 4 attacks once the township levels up to 6 waves, I mean no matter what cast you have not even with full ruby troops and the best cast in the game. Whats the point in that. where not even the top 1% can do it. Genius GGE create an event that no one in the game no matter how strong can do.
Then on the other hand you create events that are so weak, you have thrown away any sembalance of skill or difficulty, purely for the sake of trying to force players to buy banners to make it worth the time and effort hitting them.
This game is a perfect example when you sacrifice everything, absoloutly everything, for money.
When you sacrifice game balance, when you sacrifice playability, enjoyment, fairplay, real competition. when you ignore cheating, as you believe its actually making you money regardless of the consequences.
This is where you end up, with events that alianate the vast majority of your player base.
And games are simply an excercise in who can either spend or cheat the best. Or often a combination of both is required.
Events that have actually given all players opportunity have either been removed or changed to be simply ill concieved ruby grabs.
GGE have recently advertised for a game balancer and never in the history of an organisation has that role been needed more, but i dont envy the person they employ, as no matter how skilled they are they are going to be overruled by the powers that me, who do not care for balance just the KPI driven bonus they are going to earn.. Blind to the fact that shafting your customers is NEVER a good idea, and that the bonus might be nice this quarter, maybe for the next few. But sooner or later its gonna bite you hard.
And the people that are going to pay for that are the good employees that are going to lose their jobs, just liek the 600 odd people that have been binned off over the last few years

1. If ever there was an argument for bringing back real PvP as it used to be before the Crows/FI, then this is it. I would prefer to lose all my troops against a solid wall and solid courtyard, gain some decent glory into the bargain, rather than hitting anymore of these token castles which are useless and might as well be classed as RBC level 82, only instead of getting rubies and equipment, you get a tiny bit of glory. Admit it GGE, you've got this all wrong.Philt123 (GB1) said:i totally agree, GGE have spent the last few years making players stronger and stronger, better troops, better comms, more bonus's gallentry moe troops on tront and flank, etc etc. HOL 6 waves extra troops strength etc., Gems now 9 waves. you have basically spent the last few years making strength stronger and stronger and spent the last few years making FI / crow castles easier. so basically now its got to the point for most crows / fi castles are basically nothing more than tool cleaners.

I believe that you are alluding to this little bonus that can be activated whenever the bloodcrows/FIs appear on the map. However, after looking at the amount it takes to increase the combat strength to level 5, is it really worth it, considering the amount of defs that we hit are on average 600+. They also come with rubbish castellans so, again GGE, was it really worth it implementing a combat bonus? Knowing full well that even a level 20 is capable of beating a level 70 FI. Sort it out GGE.
3. 100% behind you here Phil. I tried it once and got my fingers burned. I am not bothered with Daimyo level 4 because with some calculations, they are beatable (don't even need a relic comm to beat it as I beat one with the nutcracker) but when you are limited by the number of defs and then you have a choice of 3k defenders and only 5 minutes to do it in, it is tough to defend. PvP incomings are pretty much predictable but when it comes to samurai incomings, undefendable.
4. Agreed, those who benefit most, not just those who play the game, but also those in real-life, are simply those who know how to cheat the system. If you know how to cheat like King Vlad amongst many others, then all is good however, how often do GGE take the time to analyse the internet traffic and try and compare IPs? Surely there is a way of recognising a VPN?
5. I might have to disagree with you on this point Phil. If there is one event that has remained consistent in my time here, it is clearly the Nomad event. The quality of defences are still the same, however, with the introduction of event-specific relic comms, our losses per camp have been reduced. Let us hope that they don't make the relic comms into super relic comms, because I have yet to see a maxed out relic comm (that must be frightening.)
Overall Phil, a well-thought out and balanced post as always from you. I should be enjoying my day off because it is Christmas, but with each minute that passes, with each rubbish FI spy report I receive, I feel the energy just dripping away.

I agree nomads is the closest to the event it was in the beginning. ignoring the kahn element which actually isnt too bad at all.
Of course originally the nomad event came around approx once every 3-4 months also there were around 30 camps not the 4 we have today, now we seem to have it every 4 days on rotation! and the camps back then had a very long cooldown, it was also well before the time of boosters, and time skips, so basically you got your tokens from making sure you cleared down the camps as soon after the cooldown ended as possible meaning the amount of time you hit them was massivly reduced, there we no banners to boost tokens there were no 500% bonus if you buy £x worth of rubies. So it has drifted towards pay to win much more than it ever was. But I guess thats progress.
But i was specifically meaning events like the royal capital event, which was firstly great for developing players to gain resources from, and secondly it was an event that could pretty much be won from any alliance in the top 20, spend actually didnt have all that much to do with it, and with good plannign good participation from all the players in the alliance, and of course a little bit of luck, pretty much any alliance in the top 20 had a real shot at winning the event. And many new alliances did actually win.
That was an event that was not designed primarily with ruby spend in mind, it was different, it mixed up the element of just simply grinding towers up over and over. and had a bit more depth to it and the final hour required plannign and activity.
That was phased out presumably becasue it wasnt generating enough revenue.
Same as the origional Berrimond, the first one required tactics, co operation with other people on your side. It was a genuine one team against the other. It required arranging 24hr a day cover for people to hit towers.
But i guess it was binned off as it didnt generate enough cash. And we end up with just another grinding away at towers event for as long as you can without losing the will to live. All the stratergy, and teamwork and planning, and all the skill was removed with the changes to the points its actually impossible for any side to actually "win" the event, there really is no point having 2 teams as its simply an individual competition. Just like all the others.
Another event destroyed for what ? More ruby.
You can tell the designers of the events are kept on a short leash, and its clear the events are designed with only ruby in mind, teamwork, skill, planning, tactics, are all afterthoughts, you either spend big or cheat big or you somply have zero chance of being competitive in any of the newer events.

I will respond to your post again @Philt123 (GB1) later on. However, one thing I didn't realise and should have really is the "exile or reinforce options."
http://prntscr.com/qd4ge0
Surely, this is GGEs thinly-veiled attempt to apologise for the randomly generated castles and thus giving us an option to increase the numbers and/or quality of defenders and/or castellans? If there wasn't any problems with the Fis/Crows in the first place, then they wouldn't have added the options later on. Alas, they added the options because they clearly messed up. However, in their disguised attempt to apologise, they turn it back on us, in that we have to use our hard-earned rewards/rubies just to change the troops, and more often than not, it doesn't work because if you hit that castle anyway, the future exile/reinforced castle would take the place of the one just beaten so, wouldn't it just be easier just to hit the small ones and make sure we don't spend our hard-earned gains?

well, most of the reasons why this particular event is becoming very annoying/boring, are mentioned.
There is almost nothing to gain and the same crap castles keep popping up. I still have to get a castle defence equal to my own. No wonder that 80%+ of most ally isn't playing those events (FI & BC).

I think it is time to go back to good old Player v Player. The glory might not be as good, but the satisfaction of hitting a decent defence, the winning or losing doesn't enter into it. For me, the FIs/Crows have had their day and only good for the ruby whales. If they go, the whales will be the first to leave the game. I mean, they want the best glory titles and do anything the easy way instead of doing it the hard way.

Trying to find a FL/BC who has defense "equal to my own" will likely not happen. It all comes down to what your expectations are. If you want to finish the rewards book in 3 or 4 hits, you will not be happy. If you want to get 50M Glory in 9 or 10 hits, you will not be happy.Masked Avenger (NL1) said:well, most of the reasons why this particular event is becoming very annoying/boring, are mentioned.

For those in the Top Levels, these are terrible and not worth the effort. For those in the lower level 70's getting a million or 3 in the event isn't bad.
What I found humorous recently was a thread from 2014 where people were complaining that they didn't get the reward troops for reaching 750 Glory in the event. Or some silly low number like that.
I will try to find it again...…….

I am in agreement with everyone here. One thing about the FIs not mentioned here is that when the event first started it was randomly generated then too. But the random generation worked a hell of a lot better. When I first became a level 70 player, the FIs were different. I would start out that all the FIs were level 70 (and they had many more troops and such that were in them), then when you finished off a level 70 FI, after the cooldown period, it became a level 71 FI, then 72 FI, etc.
All of a sudden it was changed that they always stayed at 70. Then the number of troops in the castle got smaller and smaller. Then they incorporated the Dethrone feature, which has no other purpose than to take your various tokens to slightly improve (or not at all improve) the castle and took rubies to turn it into the kind of Level 70 castles we had long ago. And now to add insult to injury, these events like the Ice Event happening now have changed the items that you can win (in all of the events) to these gold and silver tokens which are pretty much useless. With the FIs/BCs you need to hit about 4-5 castles to get 25 points. With the Nomads and Samurais, you need to hit 12.5 of them to win 25 points, or with these, you can earn 25 points by spending 950 of your tokens at a time by making about 8 purchases. If you are not aware, you can't spend 2850 at once and expect to get 9 points. You have to make 3 separate purchases of 950 tokens to get 9 points.

All is correct with your post except the silver and gold coins. Yes, my alliance co-members were hesitant as it meant not getting the classic prizes that we all loved to have. However, what the silver and gold coins has done, it has given those players who don't have the means to buy horrors/to buy shield walls/belfrie etc, to actually participate in the event and trying to get the rewards of his/her own choice. Perhaps someone likes the nomads, so, even if he dislikes it, he may have to participate in one event to be able to get the coins needed for certain bonus tools. These bonus tools (minimum 1k of each easily) will make them score easier and feel more better about themselves.LadyThundara (US1) said:I am in agreement with everyone here.
This is the best thing GGE has done for years, transforming the same old prizes into tokens, that way it will stop players from moaning all the time about the same old prizes being given out. I am not a ruby player and have done relatively badly in the samurais, but because I earned the coins to purchase the bonus tools, it helped me get to over 60k and complete one of the Ivory Queen quests. Guess what, with those bonus tools, it means that they can purchase even more bonus tools for other events, and so it continues. If anything, I believe that GGE have finally got something right for a change.

Similar experience here. I have never purchased Rubies, and will never do so. Now with the Gold/Silver coins, I buy 1k each of the Nomad tools (for the bonus) and the Chest (for the bonus). I don't have to rely on wooden mantlets (SLOW!) anymore and don't have to buy them from the Armorer and ridiculously high prices. I also purchased the Glory flags, both Hero and FI versions to make the FI a bit more worth my time.LegendaryKing73 (GB1) said:All is correct with your post except the silver and gold coins. One thing about the FIs not mentioned here is that when the event first started it was randomly generated then too. But the random generation worked a hell of a lot better. Perhaps being a more casual type Player (I know I will never come in 1st and rarely top 250 - and I am OK with that) and a Non-Ruby Buyer, I have a different perspective on this change. But, I like it. I really do...…...

Can't say more than that. Of all the changes, the coins were the best they have ever done. It gives the non-ruby players an eyes view of how ruby players actually play the game, but without their added bots....lol!!! Yes, I hope they keep the coin system because it will hopefully win over a lot of new players who are "really new", to the game and not just old accounts coming back.Wasso (INT3) said:Similar experience here. get a few heros with increased mantlet speed and the old wooden mantlets move like Shield walls.
