I must be like a lot of players mow with GG favouring the ruby whales with the level 10 mead troops. We are forced to either eat it or hide from it. I am permanently in 60 day Pro and I am not alone. When you come back for the 3 days or so Open Gate prices for the three days you are out in the open are ridiculous. It cost me about £50 pounds. Its time to junk it ,
Low mentality and high wallet wins again I suppose. Maybe its time for a rethink ?????

that's easy to say, the day before yesterday also a whale who found it necessary to make 5 attacks full of meadtroops and 11 waves on 1 player of ours, and we are not in conflict with that player and his alliance. he just does it for his ego, and they think it's fantastic to give something back, then they have another reason to walk on us........................ ......so sometimes it's just a one way 'battle'

As I said on a different idea post, the whole objective of GGE seems to be focused on warfare, and it'd be nice if more, non-warfare focused aspects of the game took the forefront at times.
I hate despise don't like the buying of rubies and how GGE makes it so difficult to fight the ruby whales when you're not one. I mean, I like the game, but I don't wanna shell out a lot of my own money on it just to function; nor do I want to, effectively, cheat. And that's what being a ruby whale is. Cheating. Even though GGE doesn't even realize it, or doesn't seem to.
I think charging rubies for open gate is pure bull. It's just another way of frustrating players so much that they buy rubies.
Opening the gate should be free. You should get to open or close it at any time, for no additional cost; the loss of resources if you're attacked is price enough, I'd say. And if the need for a price is so strong, it makes sense for it to be 'no wood and/or stone production' or 'no tax collection' for the time the gate is open, because those can be explained as effects of opening the gate: no wood or stone production because all the workers are being sheltered somewhere (there should still be food production so no one starves); no tax collection because it's a sort of crisis and a ruler needs to be merciful towards their subjects.
See, that kind of makes sense. The price is something that actually affects the playing of the game in a way that is understandable; charging rubies is favoring the whales and doesn't even make sense.
I'm proud of not buying rubies, and I think that a large percentage of GGE players don't want to shell out money to compete with the whales and end up quitting just because of rubies and GGE's greed.
Not favoring the whales could at least KEEP CURRENT PLAYERS; it might even bring in new ones.
