Topic: [81410] I need honest advice

[-81410] Sgt. Hammer [None] :: Dec. 11, 2012, 12:36 a.m.
My alliance leader recently appointed me as temporary alliance leader of Regulators III while he's off on business. He'll still be able to check in every now and then but we don't know how often that will be. I haven't had experiance with leadership at the position of an official leader of an alliance. We are still a small alliance but big trouble could still be drawn towards us whether we are looking for it or not. So what I am saying is, I need advice from more experianced players about how to lead the alliance as best as I can.

Try to get pacts,and when you talk with other leaders of alliances,be polite,but make sure they get that you are respected.Be kind to your members,but also discipline them.No one likes a leader who controls everything,but it is important to know what is going on in the alliance.You have to learn to make big descisions and discuss with your generals.Also,be sure to donate regulary,as it will set an example to the members.If you don't follow the rules,why expect them to do the same?I think I covered the basics,let me know if you want to know more.

Try to follow any rules your alliance has, be active and talk to your members and encourage them to be active,but its not easy especially when at war so its important to keep up morale. its an honor to run an alliance and will make you lots of friends and respect if you are a good leader. Good Luck..

I had already been doing that and more or less been my alliance's negotiator while I was at the rank of alliance sergeant. I guess it's my fault but I should have been more specific. It's the human element that's present in this game that I have trouble with. Honestly, I do appreciate the advice being given, I really do. It does help a lot. I'm just concerned that some other alliances nearby will see the change in leadership as an opporotunity to start a war or something just as drastic so I was wondering on how to deal with threats of that nature. My alliance has went into small scale battles but it was always me and several other members ganging up on one player in a different alliance that had been starting trouble for a lot of people. I don't like dealing with people by using the sword because often times it's not fair and you can never really tell the outcome of such events, using the recent Collective Alliances and MISC's war against each other as an example of how quickly something can spiral out of control. It wasn't fair for both parties because I honestly don't think that neither side knew what caused it, only that they had to go to war against one another. I know that reasoning is a bit out there considering the difference in power and influence that my alliance has compared to the MISC or Collective alliances but that's usually where big problems start, with little beginnings.

I am experiencing the same situation actually.It happens to all alliances that are strong,yet small.You could change your alliance description to sort of impress other people,which might make them not atatck you.If anyone is attacked,make sure that the attack was just an attack,and don't complain to the attackers,as it just makes them want to attack you more.I don't have much to say since I'm expereiencing the same issue.

Sgt. Hammer, your alliance is a branch of Regulators, i think you should be fine, but just in case, talk to someone in your main branch and see if they can give you some advice on it.

Hey, this has happened to me a lot, actually like 3 times now. Just be yourself, and maybe try thinking, what would your leader do? Just be yourself, act just like normal around your alliance, no one will really notice any difference if it's just like normal.

dont stress too much, you always have the generals to ask for help, thats what they are there for :p

Sgt Hammer, I have been a leader in many other games, and right now, I see that you excell the leadership that any leader should have. Doing things by the sword is not always the wisest thing to do, and im glad you said that instead of going to war. What I suggest is to first set up a limit on how much each member has to donate. I got this from a thread that forced people to donate over thousands of resources, but I deteremined it was way to much. So I broke it down so that EVERYONE could do it.

Member- Has to donate 50 resources a day.
Sergeant- Has to donate 100 resources a day.
General- Has to donate 200 resources a day.
Each class has to donate 200 coins a day.

If people do not donate that much for over the span of 2-3 weeks, the kick them out, or if theyre a genearl , demote them to member. Because in 3 weeks you should have at least 100 resources per hour

Thank you for that Kal Skirata9. The individual members of my alliance, myself included, don't often donate resources more than at least once a week but whenever we do it's a LOT of resources and every member donates at least once a week in a similar manner so I suppose it balances out.

No problem. That was just an example, its being nice, but giving teh other person a warning. If you want to increase the amount, you can do so, or, you can tell them that they can donate some every week. No offense but could you refer to me as just Kal, its saves a lot of time writing Kal Skirata9. Im not going to suggest on what each level should pay, because thats kinda hard, but its to waht you think. If theyre making over 500 resources and hour, they shouldnt have a problem giving 300. Just try to even out how much a person is giving. Always make it less than what they make. Like 1/5. Or 3/5.

Try to donate resources as much as you can,be nice to the member of the alliance,get more pacts and less wars and don't bug higher alliance's.

[1443550] laxstar [None] :: Dec. 17, 2012, 3:35 a.m.
i have found that if you set your rules to a standard and the members really want to be in the alliance then they will try their best to meet them like state that you have a strict inactive policy like 2 days or 3000 resources per week and if members see you donating rubies resources and coins they will follow your example most of the times and if they dont just ask and be nice to your members you wouldnt be anything without them and have fun

My FIrst thought is you should not be discussing this here. As a sub-Alliance of Regulator's you should be getting advice from the other Leaders in your alliance. Doing this makes you look weak. As a Leader of a small Alliance and having been been one through many Games. I would suggest that you get to know each of your members in your Alliance see if they need something and Help out in that manner, shut down any Oppression towards other Alliances and take Suggestions from your Leader when available. It's obvious to me your not ready to make these Decisions and in this game everything changes in a minute I don't want to see you make the wrong Decision and Cause Havoc. Just my thoughts.

be nice to other alliance leaders try and keep all your pacts and try not to attack anyother alliances becuse some people like to start wars, if another alliance gos to war with you try and talk them out of fighting and follow the alliance rules (if you have any).

If you are worried people might see a change in leadership and then start a war, my best advise is dont post the change in the forum. Now somebody may light you guys up just cause it would be kinda funny.

Also I would advise that if you are asked to lead in someones absence, discuss any questions you may have with them before they go. Since this is a temp. change, I'd say just keep the same rules that are already in place and handle any problems as they arise.

Other than that just do your best to keep your members motivated, organized and active and that will go a long way in helping your group handle any situations that arise.

you should keep people incharge for things like a kind person to handle the chat a member who will announce the daily news and 1 who will take care for the diplomacy then 2 or 3 people,who use different lannguages for contact of adding any member.
