Try a search through the "Alliance Introduction & Search" threads.

Many of the Alliances on USA 1 advertise there.

I would also recommend researching the alliances from the "Rankings" tab on your screen, (bottom left hand corner, graph looking icon). Spending a little time there and reading the Alliance information will give you a good idea of who to contact in the Alliance you are looking for.
