i never really noticed that before, the silmaril being mentioned, it has peaked my interest a bit more in the silmarillion

Yeah it is a sad book with heart-breaking stories
But there are mysteries in the book that aren't actually named like:
In the end of the book when Morgoth was defeated and the silmaris was scattered there was only 1 son of Feanor left (Mithrand or Mindras or something like that) and the book tells about him walking at the western shores of Beleriand but after it got consumed by water and earthquakes what actually happened to him?
The stories of Feanors brothers and Turin stinged my heart pretty hard

I thought there were three sons of Feanor left that obtained the Silmarils and were all driven mad and killed them selves.

No there where 2 sons left and they stealled 2 Silmaril's and 1 of them fell in the deep pit in the ground togheter with the Silmaril, the second son throwed the Silimaril in the sea and walked sad as ante55 said on the western shores of Beleriand.
I think there was also an a 3rd son but he died in wars against Morgoth.

How did you find it creepy? The only part that I ever found creepy in the LotR movies was in RotK when Aragorn summoned the army of the dead. But that was when I was a little kid, now I just find it plain awesome!

They're adding a lot of stuff that wasn't in the book. for example, in the first one, there was a bunch of stuff about radagast the brown, and the necromancer that wasn't really in the book.Ive wondered that too. I think 2 wouldve been great, but i think its gonna be really hard to do 3.
