Welcome to the game and forum, dont even try to not become addicted. With alot of people it isnt possible.

Somebody I was chatting to "ingame" told me that you don't really need to buy rubies, is that not true?

I quit Tribal Wars because the premium account was costing me a small fortune.

You dont need to buy rubies if you know how to play smart

Welcome to the game and the forum.Once you get addicted you'll have a habit of being on because I have a habit to play this game whenever I get home from school.

You do not "NEED" to buy rubies, especially if you find a good alliance with very active and helpful members (some of them ruby purchasers). But I'm not going to lie....you will be at a disadvantage. This game, more than many out there, reward, greatly, those that buy rubies. Without the upgrades you can only get from rubies (Stable lvl 3, Bakery, Open Gates, moving your castle more than once, alliance speed and member upgrades, etc...) you will be unable to field as large an army and may suffer more fire damage during wars.

It is still possible to thoroughly enjoy the game without Rubies, but just know....the game creators have given huge advantages to those that do purchase.
