A full moon rises and with it the whispers of a terrifying new threat to the Great Empire. Masked cultists have crossed our borders in search of blood needed to perform their dark summoning rituals. Our spies are calling them Shapeshifters, and swear to have seen them assume the identities of castle lords throughout the kingdom. They must be stopped! These evil cultists are cunning strategists and will use the armies of the empire’s castle lords to trigger a terrible and bloody war. Watchmen on the castle towers are already reporting enemy armies appearing outside our walls. Clearly, these are not times for the faint-hearted, so sharpen your swords and prepare for battle. If the cultists gather the blood they need for their dark rituals, who knows what vicious beasts they will summon to our lands…

  Attack of the Shapeshifters event is on its way… Make some noise!

Until now it all sounds like real Player versus player battles, but as it is a new event and a new system we will have some very important features to make it even more fun:

We understand that you have tonnes of questions about this new event. This is just an early teaser about the attack of the Shapeshifter. We will collect all your questions and try to answer them as far as possible. Remember, that some information we would still like to keep secret to give you the freedom to fully experience the event, trying different strategies and tactics and we really hope that we can give you a lot of freedom in this new event.

We plan to introduce the event in the game with one of the next updates - most likely in January 2018. More information on this topic will follow later.

I am guessing that it cant be too close as the defender will need some time to prepare defense?

Do i understand this correctly that defender will not lose troops/tools/resources even when losing and attacker will only lose tools.

In normal mode yes , if you want more points you can do things like giving the defender more y% x which will give you like z% more , there are many different ones of those bonuses you can give your opponent and by activating one of them you activate hard mode, in hard mode attackers losses tools and attackers.

Looks like a nice event idea to me. Attacker losing his tools won't make any sense to me tbh as it would add a "hope he's offline" gamble to everything - people will only tool the defended flank so they lose as little as possible, meaning your whole attack is potluck about whether the guy at the other end is online or not

EDIT: Actually, I would like to know whether attackers will be included in defender numbers when merging into the shapeshifter units. Particularly if main castles are being used and players have a habit of being slow at shipping out reward troops, I'd like to know if a decent proportion of those units might in fact be horrors etc

You lose tools attacking regular targets though, so what's different here?

Tooling only the defended flank would be a mistake, particularly in hard mode when you're losing troops. If you're wanting the rewards for the event, then you'd likely want to attack as though they're online... lose a few tools, but you would in any event.

Leave it to GGE to make even PvP events PvE. Why hide the attacker/defender? You can't burn them, or kill their troops? That defeats the whole purpose of PvP :(

What BS is ALL unit will be basked to Shapeshifter sharpshooter (range) or legionnaire (melee) units. So how on earth we can plan our offense or defense properly, if we can't even calculate the strength of the troops in the spy and incoming report? Does GGS developer actually have brain?

The attacker will lose tools in all modes, but they won't lose troops in normal mode ;)

Leave it to GGE to make even PvP events PvE. Why hide the attacker/defender? You can't burn them, or kill their troops? That defeats the whole purpose of PvP :(

This is PvE event in disguise.

The way I'm looking at it (As an active PvP player), is that this is PvP in disguise for PvE players :P If peeps can start to learn what PvP is about, then they will be more robust when defending in normal PvP, and more used to attacking dynamic setups when attacking.

I don't see how this would change the way you attack? You can see whether they are melee or ranged troops, and so you can adjust ratios, etc. accordingly. Admittedly you can't choose to ignore a castle because they have 700 Veteran flame bearers as opposed to another castle which has 700 Sentinels, but apart from this, I can't see a major downside when setting up an attack.

it's strategy game so there is not so much differents in attacking, you just put the tools and troops and attack
