Topic: [364164] Food Production Changes

Due to the recent problems with food production, we have tweaked how the calculation of food productions works in the Goodgame Empire. While the changes aren’t major they are significant and might lead to confusion. We decided to publish a little guide to help you as to how to really achieve maximum food production.

Previous Calculation

I am aware that you are all very familiar with how the old calculation for food production worked but I’ll discuss it here, just so there is no room for confusion. The old workload calculation only took into account the base food production of your farmhouses, woodcutter and stone quarries when calculating which buildings are receiving higher workload bonuses. This calculation required that you manually adjust your construction items to get the optimal results. We noticed that a lot of players were doing this in a less than optimal way which was actually leading to less production potential.

New Calculation

Now to the fun bit! And before we start I’d like to say you will end up with a higher production so bear with me while I explain. The new calculation takes the base production of your farmhouses, woodcutters and stone quarries into account but it also takes into account the construction item bonus. So rather than just base production it is base production plus the bonus from construction items. Construction items give a bonus and so workload will redistribute once they are exchanged.

What does this mean for you?

That depends on your set up. If you have a really optimised production then nothing will have changed. However, we suspect some of you won’t and so you should really consider a more optimal distribution on your Construction Items. You will also have to pay attention if you change many of these at the same time.

What does this mean for the future?

Currently not too much but you’ll have to be a little more organised and plan your production in a little more detail so as to really maximise it and keep it that high.

I would like to remind you though that workload distribution is recalculated every time the production changes. So after upgrading a building or slotting a construction item, you might want to check that everything is working at the optimal level.

As a pair of examples please consider that if a construction item is removed from a farmhouse then the is likely that the workload also changes due to the reduced base production. Secondly, if a building upgrades, its base production will change and therefore it can happen that its workload increases due to this.
