castellans are like the defense version of a commander. for each castle you own, you have a castellan. you can equip it the same as a commander, and give it defense bonus's that come into effect whenever you get attacked.

to access the castellans, go to the equiptment page where you equip your commanders. on the very left about half way down is a crown below a commander helmet. click the crown, and that switches to castellan gear. you can then equip the various castellans you own with gear

you automatically get 1 castellan for every castle you get, so when you join ice, sands, or fire, berri, or storm islands, you automatically gain a castellan. you also start of with 1 for your main castle

you can also build the estate in your main castle in the green empire. the estate can go up to 3 levels. for each level it is, you gain 1 more castellan. each of these 3 new castellans can be used to capture an OutPost (OP). OPs are similar to your main castle, but each OP will only produce 2 resources, rather then the basic 3. one of the resources is always food, and the other is either wood or stone. OPs also get the benifit of increased production. your main castle gets 3 farms/wood cutters/stone quarries that produce 100% naturally, but OPs have 6 and 2 (one for each resource it produces) buildings that produce 100%. you dont get to pick which resource gives the most, it naturally has a dominant one. also, some OPs do 8 and 2 buildings at 100%, giving you even more production
