its your choice whether to buy rubies or not personally im a non-ruby player and i dont see the point spending real money on a game but thats just my choice and own opinion at the end of the day its your choice

Actually despite being a non-ruby buyer, I can defo see the point in buying rubies if you enjoy the game since time is more valuable then money-you can get more money but not more time.....

Some good points. All are countered with the fact that if nobody buys rubies the "free game" doesn't exist anymore.himnextdoor (GB1) said:Actually, people who buy rubies for a free online game are soft in the head... Especially when you consider how buggy the game is.
GGS are constantly inundated with complaints and when, not if, you send a complaint in to them, they will proudly inform you that they are having to deal with so many complaints that it could be a while before they get back to you. In other words, to buy rubies is to pay for the use of a faulty product.
I should point out though, that GGS appears to bias the game against non-ruby players. For instance, a non-ruby player will not get much glory from the foreign invasion - I have hit 70 or 80 foreign castle over the few days of the tournament and not had a single castle containing more than 600-700 defenders whereas, those who buy rubies regularly get castles containing 5-7 K defenders. How GGS have escaped prosecution for fraud is quite beyond me.
In short, some people like to buy the trophy and some people want to win it. People who buy rubies want to win without competing which to me, is like buying a construction kit and then having someone build the model for you; kinda defeats the purpose.
To some extent you're right, we're paying for a faulty product. That's not how it's supposed to be though.
Your point about bias is simply incorrect. Many heavy ruby buyers deal with the same thing. @DHDF22 (US1) came 2nd in the last Spring Event on USA1 and complained about the same thing. I agree, the event doesn't issue enough strong castles. It's all luck. You can hit 100 castles and not get one good one, or the first one you spy could be good enough to get all rewards in one go. I promise you that buying rubies doesn't get me better targets. Wish it did.
The people who win stuff are the ones buying rubies. There is no confusion here. Nobody is winning Nomads or Samurais without buying booster. Nobody is winning Foreigners without buying flags. Nobody is winning Berimond without booster. The alliance that wins the Royal Capital is the one who spends the most on slowing down attacks. What you clearly don't understand is that even if using autofill, booster, ruby tools, and ruby troops. You still have to put the effort in. Like one player once complained about not being able to put in 4 hours. Do you know how much time it would take without booster? How much time you would spend setting up attacks? Even with booster, smashing one camp the whole time, using autofill, and using as many as 18 commanders you're still working your ass off for 4 hours to achieve a goal. It's not as easy as you make it sound. I can't just buy the points. I have to sit here and run attacks for hours if I want to win that event. That means spending 4 mins setting up attacks, counting down to make sure the attacks have enough space between them, and then spending a few more minutes skipping after each attack, likely dealing with a few no battles, and then starting the process over again. That's not winning it? Just because I bought my tools? Or because I bought a bonus? Please. Try actually doing it and then come back and tell me it's not effort. If I have to spend 4 hours with my time dedicated to something then I certainly consider that as costing me no less than 40 dollars - before buying rubies. My time is worth no less than 10 dollars an hour. Even that is grossly undervaluing my time.
Let me ask you, do you have a job? How much does it pay per hour? This game has turned into a job that requires you play it daily. You need to know how much food you have and regularly log in - even if you don't want to play - just to make sure your troops don't starve. For me, sometimes it's far more logical to spend 50 cents on food than send out an attack to loot that food. Usually, it's more efficient to use autofill. Something I can afford because I buy rubies. The permanent buildings I buy apply forever, but rest assured, we can start on a new server together at the same time. Without either of us buying a cent worth of rubies. You'd never keep up with me. No doubt about it. The people who would keep up with me aren't the ones complaining about people buying trophies because they're the ones winning them.
tl:dr

Like most have said, it's completely your call.XP Mai (INT1) said:The pricing is good, not cheap and not expensive. There are always attractive offers/discounts to buy rubies and it benefits your kingdom/alliance a lot with the amount of rubies you purchase.
Basically, this game is pay-to-win.
Should I be hooked into the offers/discounts and grab some rubies?
On one side you are spending real money for pixels on a computer to play a game and most think this is foolish.
On the other hand, I believe spending money on this game has actually saved me money in the long run (Not a joke lol) I am the type of person that need to be doing something at all times, I cant be static. This game entertains me countless hours in a day. Before playing games like this I would easily go out at night and blow 100 bucks+ on a cpl bar tabs around town with tips, going out to eat more, also going out and buying things I dont need for something to do.
I started out spending maybe 20 bucks a month, learning the game, and if it could sustain my attention, etc. I then spent more than I probably should building my self up to one of the stronger players on the server. Now I can sit back and reap my own rewards. I can easily play and compete with anybody ruby free now, but I still spend 50-100 bucks once in a while for a jolt of troops, tools, or a booster to "go nuts" with.
As long as you have the money to "blow" and your not spending your mortgage on pixels, who cares what you decide is worth your money :-)

Do I think rubies are worth it? Not really. I'm active enough that I don't need them but I don't pretend that I didn't benefit from buying them at the start of my game which is why I have maxed bakeries, watchtowers and stables. That said, it's much easier nowadays to get these to a decent level without having to purchase rubies. Work hard, see what you can build with rubies obtained through the game and you'll quickly work out yourself whether the benefits of purchasing rubies are worth it for you.
