I can't be considered as a whale, but I had only like 10 points yesterday morning. You got 18 hours bonus time in 21 points. So, when I reached that I started to hit nomads like a crazy, with wooden tools mostly and some iron shields. And god commanders were no problem, but when it got bought veteran demons, 6 waves and 90 cy, that's a problem! But now it is easier to defend at least 5 waved attawhen GGS finally understood to make defending possibilities stronger with this new castellan.

a fire castle is a lot more intresting now, you d'ont have to make defenders and with all the events the most of alliance just do the events and you d'ont have to defend anymore. You can have a lot of troops and always hit the nomads,samourai's,... and when you are offline you just have to do you troops away from you castle. The most of the best alliance ask to have a fire castle because the people can have more attackers and are better in events

Well any alliance will never win any war if they defend nothing. And if big alliances ask to have fire cast, it's because in wars it is better option than opening gates. If you can't even try to defend single hit during peace, then you will have very low honor, and that big alliances don't want you to have
I have -85% fire/-50% rob castellan, and one less good fire castellan in storage. But I rarely use them, and only in war.
