My bet is that goodgame studios was working on an update for berimond but something malfunctioned and the event ended up shutting down

If you sent an attack from an OP just before the shutdown, the troops will probably be back in your main castle.  Better than disappearing for a good I suppose, but mine originally came from an OP an hour away....
