Disagree 100% Phil. Nobody's stopping you from playing as PvP as you want to. You can do it on your own server quite eassily, and don't bother with the foreign invasion if you don't like it...nobody's holding a weapon to your head and telling you you have to participate in every event that comes along. And just because it's YOUR opinion that that's what the game should be all about, have you ever considered that there might be some other people who don't LIKE as much PvP? And it's not because they're weenies or any other insult you might devise, but because their play style differs from yours? Why should those people be cut out from something that has been made a rather basic part of the GGE experience? Especially since it doesn't hurt you at all that they get glory in a way you disagree with...you're not losing any just because we get some from a bot! Finally, I don't find anything at all in the definition of 'glory', either on GGE or in the OED, that limits it to having to be only for hitting real people.Philt123 (GB1) said:Lets call these so called attacks what they are they are simply tool / troop knockers. Simple as that. I don't believe GGE should be sending out computer generated attacks at players, knocking their tools / troops. I believe it should be encouraging players to fight players, not player to hit computer generated targets dressed up as "real" people. If I want a Player vs computer game I can use an x box or playstation and play something 100x as sophisticated.
This game was designed as a PvP game. the day it forgets those roots then it becomes an event / computer vs player game then it becomes a very much below average browser game. competing with a million others.
Please lets slow down on these events I mean you have ruined glory, whats the glory in hitting a static target? where is the glory in getting 1 million plus grory per hit hitting a computer generated target?
Glory should be for real human targets only, it would at least start to take the game back to where it should be, by all means start a new target like "foreign invasion glory" and give bonus / prizes for that. But glory should be only for hitting real people; the day you mixed those up you took away a fundimental piecve of the game. And devalued glory massivly.
Let me guess you will be giving Honour for hitting foreign castles next, then the game really will be dead as a PvP !!!!!

so you think there is any skill whatsoever in hitting a static target? where is the risk? the risk of getting smashed, the risk of running into 20k support, the risk of the setup changing and you getting destroyed on the wall.
The whole point of glory is that you gain it for completing something difficult. Hitting a static target is not difficult. Its simply paint by numbers. There is no skill, no need to watch looting, no need to study the player to see when your best chance of defeating him is, no need to know when the alliance is weakest for support. No need to think about your attack, and try and disguise the tooling used to try and make defense more difficult. No need to build your tooling for what the defense setup up could be once it changes. You simply negate the bonus secure in the knowledge there will be no more support or no setup change.
Since you brought up the OED a definition is
1 High renown or honour won by notable achievements:
you think hitting a static computer generatated target with 1 wave of defensive tools is a notable achievement? Its like comparing getting into the boxing ring with a 20 stone bruiser there is glory in that as there is a real risk of you coming off worse, there is an achievement in it if you suceed, or even if you go down swinging. Compare that with getting into the ring with a 10 year old boy, would there be glory in knocking him out? despite the fact you know the outcome before you even started woudl that be a notable achievement?
You really believe that gaining 200,000 glory from hitting real players is worthy of the same level of honour / difficulty. as hitting a computer generated castle? you really believe you could get 20 million glory in a 5 day competition hitting real players. And if you did. how would it compare in troop losses, tools used, rubies spent. Effort used etc? yes thats right it woudl be 10 times as difficult to gain the same level of glory hitting real players. So the point I am making is why call it the same thing when its clearly not.
Dont get me wrong i am not suggesting that the FI should be done away with cleary its GGE's cash cow so they are never going to do that. but why call it glory? what not call it something different keep the same reward structure, the same prizes. etc. But at least split the thing up. like they have done in berrimond with the gallentary points.
I am not suggesting there is no merit in hitting foreign castles, what i am saying is the skill / effort / risk / reward / ruby spend of hitting a real player vs hitting a computer castle is so significantly different its crazy to call it the same thing. Imagine a game where by you gained 1 point for finding an apple and 1 point for finding an orange. Now apples were all over the place and were really easy to get. Oranges needed much more time, effort, skill, and money to collect. at some point you are going to give up totally collecting oranges, I mean why go to the extra lengths to collect an orange, when you can get an apple really easily, and its worth the same.
Thats whats happening with this game. And thats why i beleive the addition of the FI, gaining glory, has degraded glory, its now so easy to come by its crazy. I remember when reaching the terrible title was actually an achievement, now 1 hit on a foreign castle and its job done.

You a ruby wale, always walking around in BsK´s family!..
So ruby player, in a big alliance full of ruby players!...
What skill do you have, unless buy everything with rubies, and be powerful over the others with that!
So if it was just PvP like you said it was not a fair fight, and alliances like yours always overcome other alliances with your power of attacking and defense..
Yes cause you win mostly glory by attacking regular players that most have not the chance to defend from you...
Do you think it is fair to win Glory that way.. Because, other big alliances you just have a wall full of pacts and non aggression to not touch each other...
And if a regular player attacks a member of your alliance... aiai
And, you are not fair player also..
Not long ago, you was in ex BSK alpine..
So a ruby sh1ty from alpine attacked me.. and poor soul, did not look at spy report to see that my defenses were 10-10-80.... Then leader from Alpine by that time start to sabotage me everywhere accusing me of reversing tools...
I message him, and forwarded to you..
"You answered why are you bothering me.."
(then i messaged all bsK`s leaders)
Is this way you want to win glory in Pvp..
Is this way you call challenge and clever use of tools!...
Come on do not play with me!
Sometimes this is like "the Cosa Nostra" or "Mafia"
Glory in Foreign castles must exist always... Otherwise is all for your alliance family!
Or you do not like glory in foreign war cause others in there can beat the power of Bsk`s and stand in front!
Single players and alliances..
To things be more balanced between ruby and non ruby, Glory in Foreign must exist!
Otherwise how things are game it be broken forever!...
