Basics

The wheel of fortune is an event that comes to your main castle every so often. Here you spend tickets to spin the wheel of fortune and receive 1 of 6 prizes or the jackpot prize (See Below). It costs 3 tickets to spin the wheel in normal mode, and 30 to spin in pro mode, the difference between normal and pro mode is anything you get in pro mode will be worth 10 times as much, eg 330 mantles in pro mode rather than 33 in normal.
There are also prize tiers, you unlock these new tiers as you spend more tickets, and each tier has better Jackpot prizes (See below) However getting to each new tier gets progressively harder as it takes more tickets.
When you get to certain prize tiers, you get rewards, you also get special rewards for being one of the 10 people who spend the most tickets, and ultra special rewards for spending the most tickets (See Below) You always get a free spin at the start.

Normal Prizes

• VIP Points - You barely get any, the worst prize in my opinion.
• A Random Piece Of Equipment - I've only received rare pieces, Epics possible (Thank you wicked)
  
• Resources - Meh helps produce mantlets I guess, but not really that helpful if you loot a lot. You can get rubies (Thank youShadowOf Evil)
  
• Tickets - Gives you enough tickets for 1 more spin, very good if you get it on your free spin for saving tickets.
• VIP time - Moderately useful, gives about 12 hours normally.
• Tools - Very useful, especially if you don't buy rubies.

Now the thing everyone wants is the 3 equipment sets, but the thing to note here is that to be able to complete any of them, you need to be spinning at level 8 in pro mode to complete the viper and stag set, and level 9 to complete the ram set. Otherwise, the pieces are not really worth it as the 90% bonus is the last thing in the set (Apart from the Ram which is 2nd till last but you still need prize tier 9) If the set is not complete the pieces are pretty much worthless.

The strategy

Very simply, the more tickets you save the better, I do not know how many tickets it takes to get the each prize level, it takes 1.5k tickets to get to prize level 6 (Thank you DashO),  3 tickets to get to prize level 2 (Thank you ShadowOfEvil) if anyone knows a definite answer to any others please comment it below and I will add it.
Personally, I will be saving to 2k tickets and see what I get with them all, the more tickets you have the better the chance of getting top 10.
It all depends on how patient you are. Also, try not to spend after there has been a special offer on tickets, people usually cant help purging then.

How To Get Tickets

There are a few ways to get tickets.

Buy them - Probably the worst way to get them, but if you have to try and wait till they go on offer for 10% off.
Get them from the mercenary post - They occasionally appear there, if you have enough coins to spare its usually worth it.
Event rewards - they often appear as rewards, or you sometimes get them as an alliance reward.
Special offers - The best I've seen so far offer 300 tickets for (£10 basically) but if you have had better please say.
1050 tickets, 265 pennies and a good few 24hour skips for 85k (Thanks Hornby19)
If you have a free spin and get the tickets, you can save them for later.

Other features.

There are 2 other features you should talk about.
1 Is the increase Prize level feature it allows you to unlock the next prize level, starting at 600 rubies, this amount will no doubt increase as you progress, Its good for progressing without losing tickets, and is probably how the ruby whales get all the gear, but is not a good investment if you don't spend rubies.


And 2nd is the instant Jackpot Spin, as far as I know the price does not change from 2,900 rubies, but need confirmation of that.
Ruby whales also use this at prize tier 8/9 to get equipment faster. The ruby cost increases each level, more expensive each time (Thanks Philt123)

Equipment set stats (un teched)

Armor of the stag:
Detects incoming attacks 58% earlier
Reduces the resources lost to looting by 27%
Increases glory points earned by 27%
Increases your gate protection by 45%
Increases your moat protection by 30%
Increases your Wall protection by 33%
Increases the combat strength of your ranged soldiers by 64%
Increases the combat strength of melee soldiers by 90%


Armor of the viper:
The army wil be detected 54% later
Increases the travel speed of the army by 35%
Increases the glory points earned by 27%
Reduces enemy gate protection by 45%
Reduces enemy moat protection by 30%
Reduces enemy wall protection by 33%
Increases the combat strangth of your ranged soldiers by 64%
Increases the combat strength of your melee soldiers by 90%
Skin of the ram:
Your army will be detected 43% later
Increases the travel speed of the army by 40%
Increases glory points earned by 30%
Reduces enemy gate protection by 28%
Reduces enemy moat protection by 52%
Reduces enemy wall protection by 60%
Increases the combat strength of your melee soldiers by 70%
Increases the combat strength of your ranged soldiers by 90%
Increases the soldier limit on your flanks in battles against enemy castle lords by 20%
Increases the combat strength of all units against main castles, castles in kingdoms, foreign castles, outposts, capitals, and trading metropolises by 15%

I had an offer for 1050 tickets, 265 pennies and a good few 24hour skips for 85k rubies the other day.

i am not sure how many to get to level 9 but its a huge amount, and i mean massive. if you seriously want to get the ram commander i would recomend using the ruby skip level to get to level 9

Also the jackpot spin price increases as does the level too cant remember the cost on level 9 but its damn expensive.

well it's the cost in glass...if you wanna know the cost in rubies, maybe double the the amount of rubies needed to heal one horror?

It takes 27 tickets to get from prize level 2 to level 3, 36 to get from prize level 1 to 3
