Topic: [305534] Why this time

During the winter and spring events the samurai was reduced in duration on the claims that it would mix things up so you're facing a constantly changing event.

After the ice event ended an update for the samurais was released and so the event was shortened again on the claims that if the update went wrong they didn't want the event to last to long...

So here we are our first normal nothing special about it samurai event since 2015 and how long is the event? 3 days...

So why.... Why is the event shortened this time... What excuse will you force feed us as to why the events shortened to a pitiful 3 days when it used to run for an entire week.

And the Answer is:

GGE sat round a pool table and asked, "what event is good for the player" and "what event generates the most money for us"

EDIT* Should have added, then they said" screw the players,we usually do"  ( snigger to each other across the pool table )

result is the current setup.

SIMPLE

This is seriously annoying me this time as they have no valid reason for doing this whatsoever...

This one is not an issue for me, run out of mantles and not buying rubies until I get tools back which is not going to happen lol. so sitting this one out and building Mantles.

But agree mate, they said it was only because of the spring and winter events then do it again lol.

The reason they do it is simple, its obviously the duration of event that they get the best return on per day.  Why?  well its short so you go harder, use more skips quicker as you cant really wait for the 5 hr cooldown, and as a result use tools faster than you can make them, which means clearly that people buy ruby tools instead.  If it was longer you would be able to slow down your hitting rate pace yourself keep up with the tool usage.  But of course GGE dont want that, they want you to hit fast and buy ruby tools!!!!

If it was 5 days I suspect most players will have burned their skips after a few days so prob sit there not doing much but building their tools back up for the last few days. which of course is exactly the opposite of what GGE want.

Its not a co-incedence that the longer events have no cooldown on them.  Ie Green Berri invasion thing and the FI.  ie you can keep burning tools over and over in those events.

It hard to believe the origional nomad event was a month long event, seems like a very distant pleasent memory.  Where boosters were not the only way of competing. and activity was key.

Ah well those days are not coming back any time soon thats for sure!!!

The days when every event was for a week. You had time to relax for a second and recruit and build tools and not have to go hard for all the time the event is there. Those times are gone.

Now a 4 day forrys....

Not my favourite event so yeah, but the next event being sammys will most likely be a short one again.

Hey guys,

Sorry for not responding to this yet (you can always @ me to grab my attention). Event durations can change all the time, we're trying out new methods and seeing what makes the most sense for the balance of the game (difficulty/reward compared to time and effort etc). I get that you don't like certain events being shorter, but it's something that we'll discuss and possibly change in the future.

Regards,

Steve.

I don't mind the new sammie event changes but that's just me.

I do mind but the thing that bugged me was you saying all the shorter lengths were due to events yet as soon as the events ended the event stayed short.

I like it when they attack you, except if they attack you with 28 troops with 7 on each wave and waste all your fire moats, arrow slits and murder holes while you are offline, that part is a bitch.

Glory from defending does count towards the competition.
