As a few of you know I have been working on producing a food predicting spreadsheet, and I shall summarise below how far I have got, the problem now appears to be GG's food mechanics. Unless someone can point out what I am doing wrong, it looks like some of the numbers they quote us for VIP time and Overseer in particular are completely made up, though they aren't the only things that are looking wrong.
-----------------------------------------------
Consider my Main Castle
Food multiplier starts at 100%
I get additional multipliers as follows: +16% (flag), +30% (L3 Mill), +20% (Research), +120% (L1 Lodge), +263% (PO)
This equals a total of : 549%
In game = 524%
Error = +4.8%
Now Consider one of my 8 Food Ops
Start at 100%
Additionals: +16% (flag), +30% (L3 Mill), +20% (Research), +120% (L1 Lodge), +289% (PO)
This equals = 575%
In game = 576%
Error = -0.17%
------------------------------------------------
So at the moment fairly minor errors, but still quite inexplicable, especially how they differ so much in different locations. Now if we introduce VIP time we get some great new errors.
-----------------------------------------------
Main castle without VIP prediction was: 549%
With VIP L6 (+20%) = 569%
In game = 588%
Error = -3% (Note that my prediction has now changed from an over prediction to an underprediction. The in-game food multiplier has somehow increased by 64% by turning on VIP..) (http://prntscr.com/atsmvp)
8 Food Op Without VIP prediction was: 575%
With VIP L6 (+10%) = 585%
In Game = 611%
Error = -4.3% (Again somehow VIP time has now added on 35% food production, which is also not at all related to the 64% in main, if there was a factor of 2 you could understand there might be some solid maths behind it, but there isn't) (http://prntscr.com/atsn8y)
----------------------------------------------
If we now bring in the overseer things get even more whacked!:
----------------------------------------------
Main castle without Overseer prediction was: 549%
With Overseer (+25%) = 574%
In game = 603%
Error = -4.8% (So now Overseer actually adds on 79% compared to the 25% stated) (http://prntscr.com/atsnnk)
8 Food Op Without prediction was 575%
With Overseer (+25%) = 600
In Game = 663%
Error = -9.5% (And in an Op the Overseer adds on 87% compared to the 25% stated) (http://prntscr.com/atsnnk)
---------------------------------------------
If anyone can help point out something I have done wrong feel free, please note I currently have no Beri title that would be adding to food production in Green hence it has been left out of the calculation.
I have tried to contact the game makers through the moderators on here but after I think at least a couple of weeks we have had no comment as apparently what looks like a fundamental floor in the advertised game mechanics is not a 'priority'.
Please also note that I have considered maybe the multipliers are just a misprint and the actual food output is being worked out as advertised. it is not, I have checked.
Here are some supporting screenshots of food multipliers as advertised by GG:

By the looks of it the food production you are getting is over what it should be and even though this affects your food it is a positive. The coding is messed up but you are getting extra food unless you have done the maths wrong. I would take it and run with it.

Very interesting work here, well done.
Just to check, unlikely as it is. Do you have any food boosting build items (Construction yard?)

Thing is, if they are wrong, and they are so clearly advertising these percentages. Is this not false advertising? Which becomes more important for things like VIP and Overseer which cost rubies (...real money). GG need to actually clear this up I think and explain where the extra food is coming from.
It's not like we wouldn't be happy to know where we are getting extra food from!

Thanks Carnifex,
I will need to check, I just went from the PO drop down at the top. Will need to add up my PO items to see if that number includes other buildings. It may not. Though that still would not explain how VIP and Overseer on their own add on such extra %.

Just checked, I believe it does already include all buildings like HoL, Hospital, Fire Station, Glory Memorial etc. that also have added PO.

Also note your po increases the more troops (Protection) you have in your castle I think, if you moved some in and out while you were doing this they may of changed the po and therefore the results.

And yes your right, this could be illegal if you spend rubies on this, as its false advertising, If you did not know I recently made a thread listing some ruby offers that made no sense and were illegal, @CM Popeye admitted some of what I said was true, perhaps he or @CM Arcanine can comment on this.

Not sure but think protection refers to towers?

yes protection is the level/how many towers you have.

Ah ok then, was not sure, don't suppose you were upgrading towers? lol

lol thanks MU.
Nope not upgrading towers so the protection plus on PO is accounted for. But keep trying to pick holes, it's the only way we might get a solution, unless as I suspect GG are doing something and not telling us.

2 year ago back at the good forum there was a thread about this.
I going to try to find. Your calculation is wrong, you do not add them up, you have to multiply the bonus in a certain category and them add them up.
So (x*x) + (y*y) = bonus
or i might be wrong it could be (y+y)*(x+x)

Would be grand if you can find that out! Though I still think that comes across as false advertising as where is it ever stated on the game about different category multipliers....?bobjoerock (US1) said:2 year ago back at the good forum there was a thread about this.

https://community.goodgamestudios.com/empire/fr/discussion/77411/food-production-miss-calculation
https://community.goodgamestudios.com/empire/en/discussion/121538/hunting-lodge-broken
Base production * occupancy rate * productivity + alchemist potion
with productivity being:
Public order %age + (level of flour mill * 10)% + (number of overseers * 25)% + (number of veteran overseers * 30)%
And public order %age being:
Sqrt(4PO)
The order of multiplication has no impact, but the order and magnitude of rounding does. Also, the minimum should probably be added to the farmhouse and mill production so it can be adjusted by the public order percentage, but that didn't give the right answer. You almost had it. - Danpire
