I have decided to make this thread so I can reflect on how GGE, the game, has changed over the many years.
Goodgame Empire didn't even use this forum program, if you like. Most people will remember the days of vBulletin. The new forum obviously has a more modern look but may be more difficult to navigate for some - like me!
The game in general probably started as a small flash game only found in the dark corner of the web (maybe a slight exaggeration) but fast-forward a couple of years, it has expanded into a massively popular strategy game with international servers and millions of players.
Updates are evidently a clear point to focus on, in the thread. There were days before upgrading equipment with gems, participating in nobility contests, hitting the jackpot with 'Wheel of Fortune', attacking foreign castles, becoming the Storm Lord and entering the Everwinter Glacier. For old-timers, take a minute to grasp that moment of nostalgia. For more past updates visit:

The game developers are constantly updating the game but these modifications and revision don't suit everyone's tastes. Ruby-buyers may dislike the developers for bringing out reward systems to those who don't pay money for the game. I, personally, remember when everyone hated the Samurai Invasion's 'gambling' game. But, of course, we have our - often? - trustworthy Community Managers to analyse our feedback. Years ago, there were very few CMs but new players mean more people willing to help the game. Therefore, I am very grateful to the GGE team. I also am obliged to thank my friends, the general community and fellow members of alliances I have been in (The Exiles, Dominion, Tranquil Tears and The Syndicate)
Well, I guess I could cover a lot more but I think it's enough.

Then I was an addict of the game, but now I've quit.

AL

so are you saying that cuz they have relased updates that benefit non rubie buyers you are don't like the game anymore or that the game was batter back in the day then now? Before the game was very difficult as there were not so good rewards for bouth rubie buyers and non rubie buyers but the game is more fun now because games are supposed to entertain you not make you explode from rage

The events have taken over this game, and the importance of alliances is decreasing as more single player options are being introduced. Before players and alliances fought against each other, but now alliances and players fight against computer targets

This game has turned into a collection game rather then a pvp strategy game there players develops their castles and commanders just to be able to collect even more, each and every update they bring us enhances the PvE element of this game forgetting about the pvp element.

They clearly started to drop the pvp element in this game as soon they realised the PvE element earns them more money.
Their latest "pvp" update was the alliance cities, but these cities are stupidly easy to defeat and all attacks are anonymous so where is the so called "pvp" in this? Just an another update making you attack more computer targets.

Without the anonymity of the alliance cities, we would just get the most powerful alliances abusing their power and mass targeting any player attacking their city, meaning no one would hit them.
