I am gaining xp for the new General's, but it isn't being automatically added to the General I have nor can I figure out how to add it ??

the XP boosters you win in the generals inn, if you go to the generals overview, next to XP top right there is an arrow, click it and then use the XP boosters, also if you have reached level 10, you cannot go any further untill you have aquired 185 horatio shards, then after that you can do the next 10 levels.
