Topic: [389879] Is there an easy explanation or guide on how to assign a Defense General to your Castle/outposts?

I have played game for many years, but the GGE gnomes have overwhelmed me with their changes.  The so called Defense Castellan.   Are there any guides on how to assign the additional defense general?   I am now using Fire castellans since the game is unbalanced for sometime by the GGE gnomes in favor of attackers.   Brderline ready to drop this game and move on to something less Germanic and over engineered.
