Topic: [352527] CALL THE BANNERS! Forum Competition 5/24/18-6/18/18

[-352527] Friedrich IV (US1) [None] :: May 24, 2018, 9:48 p.m.
Hello forum warriors!

From today, 5/24 to 6/15 I will be accepting entries to a forum competition! The competition will be to create the best signature banner. See my signature banner for an example (does not include the text beneath it, just the banner itself). EDIT: I should probably include this, to submit an entry simply comment it on this thread.

Rules:
1) Must be game related in some capacity
2) Must adhere to forum rules (signature size and other signature rules, be respectful of others, etc)
3) In-game wars and politics are not allowed in this competition. Any submission regarding them is very unlikely to comply to the forum rules, so let's just not go there.

Any disqualified entries will be removed and you will be notified.

Rewards:
1st place - 50,000 rubies
There will be no second place, no runners up, and no additional rewards. Only one winner. As an additional reward, I will wear the signature banner from the end of the competition in mid-June until the end of July. EDIT: If it's good enough, I reserve the right to use it past the end of July.

Entries will stop being accepted at midnight Central Standard Time, USA the morning of 6/18.

CALL THE BANNERS!

Lmao "Hello Forum Warriors"

Question: Who decides who wins the competition?

Question: Who decides who wins the competition?
That will probably be me with some help from the other moderators. I anticipate a number of good ones to have to narrow it down from. Since it's going to go in my signature for a month and a half, I will probably pick out top performers and submit them to the moderator team for their input to decide the winner.

So, the banner has to be related to GGE? So if I made a banner that was related to a war going on in the USA server, will you use that banner for a month?(Assuming I win)
I will be strictly interpreting forum rules for this, so no. You're not going to be able to find a way to make anything war-related and have it still be even remotely respectful. Same thing regarding any specific servers (who shall remain nameless, but you all know who I'm talking about) or players.

In my first draft I had that specifically stated, decided to remove it because "people should understand 'follow forum rules' right?"
Didn't know that something that has to do with the game is now not allowed on the forums, lol.

I'm guessing what your saying is that you don't expect it to be respectful and that's why you said no, but that if it was respectful it wouldn't break forum rules.

If I have to officially state it for people, no in-game politics will be allowed in this contest. I don't want to have to remove a bunch of entries people worked on because they're 99% going to violate that rule. TL;DR don't waste both of our time, pick another subject
I edited the main post to include the line I left out originally.

Alright, well you can delete the rest of my comments that relate to me asking about this. Lol, if it annoys anyone.

Question:

I have seen a lot of CMs before that used to have interactive banners, is that possible to do and how?

(Not how to create the banner, I can deal with that, I mean how to upload it to the forum)

Define interactive banner? Like a gif? or what

I would assume same way you upload a regular screenshot, copy file location and paste into the dropdown for it

Does it look like a banner?

No.

I tried to post a gif earlier, and it wouldn't let me. I'm not sure how they did it, assuming that's what you're talking about. Maybe it was just the site I was using to do it from, not sure.

Anyways, if you can make an interactive banner and want to put in the work to do so, go for it. I would just make sure you're actually able to post it before putting in the work.

how to make a baner

Wait so actual questques not just garbage trolling.

Who is giving us the rubies? Mods or GGS, because I personally find this somewhat unorganised.

And why 50k? That is like 40-50AUD, well above what is worth from this competition.

And finally you should add in the throne as it is a community event.

No. A banner that if you click on different places of it, it does different things.

Like, I once saw a CM signature that had three buttons on the left, one took you to the FAQ, another one to the customer Support, and the last one to the main page of the forum.

I'd do something like that (And I actually did it once) but I don't know how to upload that into the forum.

I can't paste the code into the signature box (Not even with the HTML View on), yet I've seen people do it in the past so I know it's possible.

What's the "best signature banner"??

Since there is only one winner, there is a decent reward. Against a large number of submissions, it is much less likely to win this competition, whereas in the past there have been 2-5 winners overall, some per community, with extras thrown in like most creative, and even sometimes additional random ones picked to receive rubies for participating.

GGS assigns the rubies, I had to get both the competition and the ruby payout approved by them before doing this.

I will ask about the throne, but I was trying to bypass it in order to give out more rubies since I think those are more valued than a PO piece.

I'm not sure how to upload that either. The forums have changed over the years, it may not be possible anymore. I'm honestly not sure, and have never personally seen that.

Well that will be decided at the end, once everyone has submitted their banners for the competition..

[4954824] Friedrich IV (US1) [None] :: May 25, 2018, 1:35 p.m.
This competition is being put on hold for private reasons.

Thread will be closed and possibly reopened when the contest resumes.

[4955489] Friedrich IV (US1) [None] :: May 28, 2018, 12:04 p.m.
The banner competition is reopened, I will edit the end date to add an extra 3 days to make up for lost time.

I feel like I should submit mine just to make it super confusing if you had to use it for 1.5 months ;)
