I have been playing this game for 1 year 6 months and I am level 70 legendary level 5

I feel pleb I've been playing 2 years and 6ish months on this account (had previous experience and then quit and came back) and I'm level 57, mainly because I've focused on my alliance and not my level

Level 70 with 209 legendary.

I think that's considered about the middle of the pack as far as veterans go.  Many started 3.5+ years ago.

I've been playing for 4+ years, just not on this account because I got to like level 40 then I quit and came back

I Have been in the game since it first came out, but when my alliance lost our capitol I quit for about a year, and I have had this account ever since. I Will not be posting my old user or alliance for security reasons.

I know I was just making a comment on yours how did you level up so fast? are you a ruby buyer?

I think I've been playing since December and I'm level 42. I've slowed down a bit, and tried to focus at becoming the best player at my level, and improve my buildings. And I'm a proud member of The Black Flag, if that was necessary. xD

Oh, whoops!
It took me almost a year to level up to 70, that was without rubies.

For legendary levels it's more of an indirect effect.  I've never bought experience or resources or troops, but other things I've done have impacted my legendary level for sure.

I bought rubies when I hit 70 and again later, during a VIP bonus (which helps you in many aspects of the game) and I've also bought a couple of times during the penny/ticket sales.  I used those rubies to finish up some ruby buildings and to buy tools and overseer bonuses.  Those help indirectly for hitting more and leveling up faster.

I just now finally got to legendary level 7
