That's the idea.  I'm too low a level to really exploit SI. But then the idea occurred to me Why not fill the island with dwellings and collect taxes instead? It's hard to see but I actually demolished the siegeworks buildings to make more room for the dwellings. As you may have noticed at the top of the screen my public order and production is krap.
So I just send res on a regular basis from the empire to upgrade the dwellings and other projects that earn me aqua.
I'm nearly to 2000 now and on the last day I will convert to level 1 cargo ships to earn points for my alliance.
oh and I'm collecting over 1,000 coin every ten minutes while ingame.

you can still do that with my strategy. As you can see I have already built 3 ships and I have earned over 2000 aqua so far and still have several more wall expansions to go and tower upgrades after that all will will earn aqua and upgrading res buildings is going to earn more aqua. I will have more than 3k aqua by the last few days. Then I will use the space I created with the expansions to build ships and if I need to will store the parks to make more room.
Remember that you only need to complete the ship projects before the storm hits and your alliance will get all the points credit for the prizes. And only build level one's. A level two upgrade only gets you 50 points and costs the same as three level one's that get you 150 points.

ok you are going to have to wait for the next storm before trying my strategy. Two problems in your SS.
[1] You already have built a lot of ships taking up the space you need for the dwellings.
[2] You haven't been doing your wall upgrades. Look again at my SS and compare to yours. There is a huge difference between them, the main part you see clearly is larger than yours and in the OP SS on the left you can see part of another expansion. I have done another expansion since then and at this very moment I have res in transit to SI to pay for another expansion. When I am ready to start building boats The castle will be fully expanded on that side. Also if need be I can always start demolishing dwellings the last few days to make more room.
I will take a SS before the storm hits and update this thread.

I plan on doing at least the L3 dwellings, and demo'ing everything else I can when I do enter storm for the first time. Even with an L1 Keep, only takes 30 minutes a upgrade to L3.
