you need to unlock the "research tower" at level 40, not sure when exactly but i think it is around then it is between 35-40 i know that much

Sorry, why was research tower level 2 and the architect useless? And you are aware that this was implemented ages ago, right?

yes i know! till the that update i just used architect one or two times! and i did this because there was nothing to do! for me its realy useless!
research tower (level 2) - research tower is awesome but when u level up u will see that there is nothing special. For me the best thing was there faster vets. thats all! btw if u have KGs thats also useless!
i thing in that way!
for me the best thing in that game was capital and that equipments.... and this is out off our subject!

Architect - a quick thought and some questions: I am usually on each day, some days longer than others, and I have not seen the architect in a long time. Have I missed him? When does he usually appear? How long does he stay?

It's completely random - the architect will appear on random days, at varying times of the day, and only in front of high(ish) level players. You could have been asleep or at work/school or just offline when he last came - he only appears for a couple of hours and just about everyone is offline for at least 2 hours a day. Or he might not have come for a while: if it's completely random, then you could get multiple appearances in a short time and then no appearances for a while.
The only thing you can do to boost your chances of seeing the architect is to be online more often. All events appear randomly, so worrying about when an event comes (all times of the day) or whether you've missed him doesn't really help anything.

Protip: The architect for some "random" reason, likes to appear mostly of the time when there is a Travelling Merchant event active.
