It seems that you're saying what I was thinking. So, what difference does it matter what Granary you apply a base food item to?   What are Fujiwara and Herveus trying to say? The conversation seems to imply that the granaries base production influences the base food item. Let me state it another way. If I use the max of 15 base food items(lvl8=50 as above), does that increase my base food production by 750?

Because there are other factors affecting u`r overall food production namely workload and Productivity. The food production is basically a multiplication between these three. Base food production can be modified by only base food items and the workload is fixed i.e., it decreases after 2 or 3 or 6 or 8 buildings in a castle at a constant rate. What po and everything else affects is productivity. As far as what Herv and Fuji are arguing is which build item is better (base or flat 200) for 23% and 31 %  workload buildings and why and at what productivity levels?

15 base items are useless in the green main. As far as other ops and kingdoms it depends on u`r productivity levels. And base item boosts a lot even a single can boost upto or more than 750food/hr if u have right productivity levels.

Yes, but is that useful information? Let's say you do that in green main. You haven't increased the base food by 750, so much as increased 15 separate base food production values by 50. Of those, three of those you will be getting a full 100% (multiplied by the PO/research/whateverElse bonus), then the 4th will only be 75% as valuable, 5th = 56%, 6th = 42% and so on. So the actual food per hour you gain from a base item in a 7% production granary will be only 7/100ths as much as the food per hour you gained from putting that same item on a 100% production granary.

There is therefore a point where this reduction on bonus reaches a level where you're actually better off not having those granaries, and having the extra PO from a decoration instead. This thread is basically trying to define where "more base items" is no longer the optimal way of increasing food production.

Okay, I should just let this go because I'm probably going to seem argumentative for no good reason. My point is there seems to be no reason to mix in the building production because it has no effect on the build item and the build item has no effect on the building. To look at it another way, 14 level 8 base food items are the equivalent of 4 level 29 100% granaries(175 food production). All food production bonuses add to this as far as I know. The food build items you can make as far as I know are not effected by bonuses, but simply add to your overall production. I think that is useful information. Now, none of this really debunks the idea that base food items are inferior to the flat production food items that we can make and I haven't bothered to do the math adding in all the production bonuses available to me as not all players might have those. This conversation has got me to thinking more about that though and i am appreciative of all those who contributed.
