So about 10,000 rubies for that. They will still need space for that and for space you need resources. Once you get space you get morale. That costs resources. I am surprised they don't cost rubies to buy resources quicker. I don't buy a single ruby, so this might be quite difficult. Since you start off with 200 food production, you can only have 50 strong soldiers who eat 4 food. GGS really didn't think this through. Someone told me there are 60 skeleton people in the the future castles. GGS is keep on saying BUY RUBIES!!! 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Doing this challenge was a waste, which loses my intrest in the game. GGS should think of a challenge in which non ruby buyers could take part in. They may not make money, but it will definitely create more excitement. I am not happy and am regretting taking part of this thing!
this is what i'm talking about. This kind of stupidity. a little thinking lets you look at problems more rationally. no food cost doesn't give you unlimited soldiers not in thorn king kingdom. you still need the ability to hold soldiers. those are the tents. once again it is an advantage of course but its nothing you can't deal with.
just because you can only hold 50 soldiers without negative food doesn't mean you can only hold 50 soldiers. if that were the case your main castles would be pathetic compared to food outposts. c'mon think a little. you have a 9k food capacity. you could easily hold 150+ soldiers only losing 400 food per hour. 9000/400=22.5 hours. that is almost a day. if you keep attacking resource villages you will easily make up the food lost.
this isn't meant to be a easy as pie quest so either buck up and use a little brain power or don't bother playing this game...

BOOM. Well said son. Totally agree. You have a month. Plenty of time. As for restrictions - get creative!

Because it's not just 300 rubies! That is the end reward, but you get rubies along the way, there are quest rewards. Kings Guard soldiers (if you don't kill them), it's something else to do. If you don't want to do this for 300 rubies at the end, why are you active in Grass and the other worlds? You get rewards for completing tasks there too. It's another fun, interesting dynamic to the game.

Yes but is still not worth it after the amount of resources and coins and time you have to spend on it as you will get what ? 1,000 rubies at most (probably not that much) from all the quests there and even with the King guards soldiers it is still not worth it, as you will probably get about 100, and you will lose alot more than a 100 troops completing this.

On that theory is even playing this game worth it? So many Grass, Ice, Sand and Lava quests don't give rubies. Are you on this game to 'play' or to earn rubies so you can erm.... 'play' and have ruby buildings? I don't understand the resistance. It's something else to do while you're waiting 8 hours for your level 8 farmhouse to upgrade.
I'm amazed at the complaint over time on here. Time we all have, that's why we play a time based game. You have a month to complete it. It isn't designed to be a daily quest. You guys will play for months to upgrade your castle, but you won't embrace this new challenge? I really don't understand the hate for an additional game play option.

Sorry, but I think everyone is just being a bit pessimistic and impatient. I have attacked the first 2 small villages 6 time each and they are still only defended by 4-6 people, so yes, it is a very slow way to build resources and it is going to take a long time to build a big enough camp to transfer the number of troops you need, and will require you send across a lot of men, most of whom will die, but that's why it is called a challenge.
If the thorn king was intended to be beaten in a couple of days, it wouldn't be a month long event.
I do agree that anyone not throwing rubies at the game will probably need to devote a lot of time and men to complete it, and a less effective hunter camp would be nice, as it would still take a lot of resources to expand the area enough to build them, so not like anyone will be able to just build 20 and easily dominate the event, but people complaining that we are the customers, and they are just trying to con you out of your money are deluded.
Of course they want your money, this isn't a charity, but don't kid yourself, you're either buying rubies, inwhich case your argument that it favours ruby players is moot, given you are a ruby player, or you don't buy rubies, in which case, you are not the customer, you are someone who is making use of a fully supported game and forum, which they are allowing you to play for nothing, so stop complaining that they are not doing enough for you.
At the end of the day, the event is optional, and I have personally told half my alliance not to bother because they will benefit much more from spending their resources in the main area, but myself and a couple of the other members are damn well going to complete it, not because it's easy, and not even even for the rewards ( though I do hope they are nice ), but simply to prove we can, which is surely the objective of almost every game you play.

This is quite absurd -
Firstly: I can send 5!? 5!? troops at a time to begin with? What am I supposed to do with 5 men?
Secondly: Large Tents cost rubies, and are stated to be 'significantly' better. Another advantage to ruby players... and then...
Thirdly: Hunters camp - the only way to reduce food consumption. Hmmm. Costs rubies. Goodgame Empire says, 'BUY RUBIES OR YOUR FU...dged.' Basically another money making scheme. And 990 rubies for 1 hunters camp - are you joking?
Fourthly (perhaps the worst thing): Lets send some res over there! Right so i'll send 5000 of each... OH WAIT A SEC. 500 IS ALL THAT ACTUALLY ARRIVES!? Come on Goodgame, Everwinter Glacier we could put up with, even the burning sands etc. but it costs you 90% of your resources when you send them over.
Piss take. I'm sure some players may be able to do this as a 'challange' - but in reality we all know it's just another absurd way to make people buy more rubies (as if we haven't had enough ruby making updates in the past few months already) - because without rubies here you're practically stuffed.
i tottaly agree with you, they tell you, you need to attack those tiny Recource villages for Recources insted of sending them over WEL I LOSE MORE THEN I GAIN Recources and troops my opinion is just like yours its all about RUBY's

Hey Klieth,
Absolutely not! Of course the donation at the beginning is very big but since we wanted to make the game possible for almost every level, you should not send resources into the event but you should gain them in there!
So instead of sending resources, just send more troops and attack the little villages
Regards
Hannes
You need to send resources to get troops. I attacked a resources village and got 81 stone and 81 wood! they dont do a thing. Some of the towers are impossible to defeat without having at least 60 troops and thats only the beginning I cant even imagine how hard it will be at the end.

At first, but the more attackers you send the more loot they come back with. It is a slow build-up. Small attacks, give small resources, build a tent, build morale decorations, bigger attack, bigger resource haul and so on and so forth. That's why we have a month to complete it. Patience young Padwan, patience (and persistence).

Well, I have to say, even though I don't buy rubies or anything, I was able to save 2000 rubies in about 2 weeks.
You know, I'm just saying to lessen ruby consumption so you might cope up withe the burden.

For those who hesitate ven getting started with this: Don't bother!!!
If you're smart: DON"T WASTE ANY SUPPLIES, ARMYMEN, RUBY'S AND GOLD ON THIS USELESS QUEST: IT TURNS OUT TO BE A WASTE OF EVERYTHING, CONSIDERING YOU GET ONLY 300 RUBY'S AT THE END...
VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!

Patience = wearing thin with you negative posters! You're playing a game that when you signed up for you didn't know what rewards, if any were in store. You signed up to play, because you wanted to play! Not for rewards of rubies etc. This reward is in line with every other challenge issued in grass/ice/sand/lava. You didn't have to accept the Thorn King's challenge. You don't have to send resources or use rubies. The only thing this challenge requires is TIME, which you clearly have as you can play and complain in the forum. You have a whole month - get your hand off it and just play the game. The 300 rubies are an end challenge bonus - there are so many rubies and soldiers given to you during the game that the prize is bigger than 300 rubies.
If you hate this game that much, retire your log in and don't post in here again - and that's directed at everybody complaining. It is a time based game, with quests and challenges designed to take time and give you something to do for small rewards along the way. FAR OUT!!! I can't believe how many narrow minded people post in here... Such a shame.
