At higher levels, food and stone is more important. But an outpost just is an extra troop storage. Doesn't affect quests.

They allow you to put more troops in a wave.

That update is only available currently to players level 6 and under, but since not being that I don't know how to.

It's simple. You hit "Adventure", then you click around and fight. Very easy, but a bit TOO easy.....

Do the wall and gate bonuses still benefit the defense when they go to the keep to fight.

No. They are on the wall. Not in the castle.

180 might be for defense.
