Thanks a lot, but how do you get enough food to hold the soldiers, won't the food rapidly decrease?

Farm small villages. You can easily earn 800 per attack. I have kept 150 soldiers alive for the past 3 days. I started off with about 300 but lost half in an attack on a tower, so I was sustaining at least -400 food per hour, but for the first day it was -1000 per hour!
Or you can spend more rubies than you get (spend 999, get 900) on a Hunter's Camp, which acts like a bakery only you can build it more than once. You really don't need to - it's the only part of the Thorn King which actually is a scam.

Farm small villages. Over 800 food per attack. It's not really a problem.

Where is the snapshots? I am too afraid to attack the necromancer castle, they got like 480 defenders, I got 300 attacker and working on my moral now its 160% and I will send all the necessary tools including mantles. I know moral and the total number of attackers effects each other, if I just want to send 300 men, how much moral do I need?

Where is the snapshots? I am too afraid to attack the necromancer castle, they got like 480 defenders, I got 300 attacker and working on my moral now its 160% and I will send all the necessary tools including mantles. I know moral and the total number of attackers effects each other, if I just want to send 300 men, how much moral do I need?
I placed links to the screenshots because, from experience, it messes the post up if you post big images on there.
All I can safely say is that I sent 400 troops with just under 155% morale and won. I would imagine that you would be safe with 175% morale, but that is no more than an educated guess. However, send as many as you can - it shouldn't be hard to make more tents: just farm small villages. In the past 48 hours, I've farmed about 25 small villages (purely for food) and not lost a single troop. Just attack the weakest 2 flanks.

nearly got to the last casstle and so far I recon it wasnt to hard, but I was just wondering whether or not all the looted resources go back to normal map asswell after the event is finished?

Yes. They get transported back to your main castle in The Great Kingdom. I have finished the event so I can confirm this.

The resources you bring home at the end of the event, can you go above storage limit?

I finished the necromancer castle, with 360 men and 160% moral, with only 130 lost, turned out to be very easy, now I have the last two towers on 8th, 9th row to get the last 140 knights. I feel that mantles is very useful for the fight, I consume averagely 65-70 mantles per tower starting the 8th tower, that will guarantee your lose to be around 35-40%.

well finished it and I recon it was a bit to easy, only lost 119 men out of 350, against an army of 450+. Anyway cant complain about to attack more villages and take all the loot back

I have an alliance member that started the thorn quest and got about halfway through and can't finish becasue school. What exactly will return and what will not?

I believe a mod said that at the end of the event, all troops and resources were returned automatically. The event itself won't return (although a similar one might appear in a while), so the member can't finish it.
Sorry for replying so late, but I was on holiday - even I have a bit of a life. :P

I have a question about The thorn king. I was nearly done giving resources to enter the map when he disappeared with 4000 coins and food and 3000 wood and 2000 stone. I didn't even get back all the resources! What happened? Was I too late? Why did he leave?

The thorn king event has ended that's the reason why he left.

The end date was stated even before you entered the kingdom (I think). You should have started a month earlier, anyway. And if you only just reached the necessary level, then you wouldn't have stood much of a chance in the first place.
