THE HALLOWEEN BARON           BY:GoldHaven

Commander Brazio didn't like the the situation. It was the 2nd day of marching to the Halloween king's castle. He recounted it all.One day lord Connery was strolling through his castle,to make sure everything was in order. In the marketplace everything seemed normal.Food Tent,Exotic Plants Tent,Potions Tent... Everything is in order thought Lord Connery. At least I won't have to post as much guards around here he thought.Just when he was througt th elast twist and turns through the market place, something leaped.Lord Connery didn't know what it was but he dodged ad fell to the ground. This creature..almost looking human-like was wielding a worn-out short dagger.Lord Connery's troops quickly rushed to the scene to protect their lord. However just as a guard put his his hands on the woman so he could throw her in the prison, she yelled"The Halloween Baron will come and kill you!",and she materialized into dust. The guards were shocked.Grudun,Lord Connery's aide quickly rushed to the scene."What happened my lord?",the faithful aide said."Some creature, almost looked like a goblin rushed out of the  market stands and tried to stab me.Then she said something about some Halloween thing",Lord Connery said. She said"The Halloween Baron will kill you!"one of Connery's guards corrected.

"Hmm"said Grundun."Let's look at this cloak she left here......Looks like material from the North",he said thoughtfully.

And just from that one sentence Commander Brazio was searching for the supposed Halloween Baron's castle. It was like finding a needle in a haystack. There was many castles around but they were just Barbarians trying to pickpocket a unwary traveler traveling the roads.Brazio highly doubted Connery, but knew if anybody found out that he abandoned the mission half-heartly he would be hanged for treason. Suddenly Brazio heard the clank of bones."The men are so hungry that their bones are clanking!'Brazio thought despairingly. Before he could turn around,a giant bag that smelled like rotten flesh slipped over his head.Brazio felt being loaded onto a cart, and while he was riding, a large bump on the road knocked him unconscious. Brazio woke up in a cold dark room. He tried to recount what happened after the blackout.Brazio remembered being shoved out of the bag,and all of his possessions being stripped off, including ,his legendary artifacts and Great Sword of the Mighty.Brazio wanted to fight back but he was too weak,He suddenly saw that his capturers were skeletons. As soon as he looked at one of them,a state of terror and shock fell on him,and he blacked out again. Now Brazio was trying to figure out what to do . He was in a prison cell and was hungry and thirsty. Brazio waited several hours, untill one of the skeletons came.It was so grotesque that Brazio turned his head against the wall as the skeleton threw a horrible smelling and rancid looking piece of meat inside Brazio's cell."The Halloween baron will visit you soon" said the skeleton with his teeth chattering .Once the skeleton left,Brazio took the piece of meat and threw it out the bars of his prison cell, simply because he was about to die from the smelling it.Brazio heard a growl in the prison room.Brazio then decided to lean as tight as possible on the cell,in case this creature whoever it was would strike. After eternity passed,Brazio heard the clip-clop of horsesteps . Brazio saw a horse mounted by a dark figure wearing a pumpkin mask glowing.' I AM THE HALLOWEEN BARON! KNEEL BEFORE ME!", the mysterious figure exclaimed. Brazio did not know what would happen if he didn't kneel so he knelt. The figure pulled off his mask.Brazio exclaimed"KING LUDWIG?!""WHAT!?",Brazio said still in a state of shock. I am not King Ludwig, the Baron said."I am the Halloween Baron"."But don't you set up all the nobility contests?",Brazio said."I have been tricking you along"Ludwig said menancingly. My goal is to become total ruler of GoodGame Empire and I don't care if I have to chop up castle lord by castle lord.MUAHHAHA!"I am the Dark Lord", he exclaimed. "And now it's time for your death. The skeleton minions that Ludwig owned took Brazio out of his cell and put him on a plank of wood all firmly secured. Just then Brazio saw his fate. Looming up above him was a giant axe that was bloodspattered.Brazio saw that the network system of pulleys connecting to the axe leaded to a string in Ludwig's hand.He pulled it and the air whistled as the 1,000 pound axe came plummeting down right at Brazio's face when...Brazio woke up in state of horror . He recollected his thoughts and was relieved it was all a dream. Brazio got dressed and went out of the tent that he slept in and into Lord Connery's castle. Suddenly, appearing from the ground a green knight with a pumpkin as a helmet appeared. This time Commander Brazio was prepared. He drew his sword out just as the green pumpkin knight swung.Brazio parried. The green knight then kicked Brazio in the face, and Brazio who was  surprised fell to the gound. The green knight threw down a chop aimed at Brazio's heart but Brazio rolled over and dodged it . On the counter offensive he sliced the pumpkin off the green knight and the green knight fell to the ground like a concrete block .Realizing what he just did, the spectating citizens cheered for Brazio.Lord Connery proclaimed a feats and everybody was inside the Great Hall including the guards enjoying the banquet. The green knight wasn't removed however. Nobody dared to touch such evil thing ,so Lord Connery was deciding what to do with it.The chopped limbs slowly came together to form the green knight again, and the green knight stood up straight. He then proceeded to find the castle stables. Once he stole a horse he rode out of the castle gates and disappeared into the dark night.

Don't know if this is what was intended, but it made me lol as it reminds me of the Muppets' 2 old men in the balcony.  Thanks for posting!

Here's  my attempts:

Twas the night of All Hallow's Eve in GGEmpire when all through the flat, not a creature was stirring, not even a bat.
The pumpkins were set around the castle with care, in hope that goblins and ghosts soon would be there.
The troops were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of  hauntings stirred in their heads.
The king of the foreign empires and myself, without a peep, had just settled our brains for a long dreary sleep.
When out near the moat there arose such a clatter.  I jumped from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I did sneak, tore back the curtains to take a peek.
The Empire's moon sure did glow, lighting the troops and castles below.
When what to my blinking eyes I should see, a witch on a broom with cats all three!
An ugly old hag so devilish and crazy mean, it must be herself the Bandit* queen.
More quickly than demons her coursers they came.  She cackled and howled and called them by name:
Now, Miss Furry Timeless*, Now, Professor Harryball*, On Longtail Grrrudge*,
On with you, on with you all!
From the dungeon to the top of the wall, fly away, fly away, fly away all!

*Tribute to members of my alliance, Lady Bandit, Timeless, HarryNipples * *, and our alliance leader, Grrrudge

I had a look through the entries and decided to give it a go. I'm not a great poet (and I'm only 12) but hey, I'll give it a shot (N.B. I didn't use the rhyming couplet 'night' and 'fright' together because that's stereotypical for a Halloween Poem  :p  )

A Halloween Recount

Running down a roof

Is a stream of blood

The drawbridge drew shut

With a rather loud thud.

The sun sets down,

There's no more light.

Who knows what creatures

May be lurking in the night.

Snarling more than usual

Are the wolves outside.

A corpse outside

Has stiffened and dried.

Blood-curdling decorations

Embellish the gate.

Nobody ought to be around

When it is this late.

Across the Keep,

A spider crawls.

A mysterious figure

Casts against the walls.

A slimy substance

Stains a tower.

Men beside the Tavern

Looks grim and dour.

All can hear the screams

In the forest of trees.

Blowing through the fields

Is the autumn breeze.

Lonely, a misty figure

Hangs out amongst the stones.

Floating in the moat

Is a collection of bones.

Villagers carve

Jack-o'-lanterns.

The children dress as

Devils and phantoms.

The Equestrian Statue

Is alive and creaking.

Around the parks,

A witch is shrieking.

Normally hectic

Is the Marketplace.

But today and tonight

There's an empty space.

Coming from the theater,*

Is a painful groaning.

Another in the the square

Continues droning.

I clearly hear three

Knocks on my door

Another pound

Adds up to four.

But, I am too busy

Fulfilling a task

"What is that?",

You may curiously ask.

It's writing this poem

By my candle and flask.

*Or 'theatre' if you're British.

My kingdom has fallen under the spell of the most EVIL SORCERESS Gilgahmessina.

She demands the blood of my kin as payment for her odious spell to be lifted from the land.

I am doomed for I cannot and will not do as she asks.

Is there a mighty wizard that can help me in my darkest hour?

Please, I beg you, send help before it is too late!

Lady Merlaina

(as a writer I can't resist this, though my scariest piece is more surreal than gruesome.  However, as a player I also can't resist commenting that it would seem to me that the second and third prizes are much better than the first prize, since look items are fairly useless in game terms while rubies and wheel of fortune tickets are exceedingly valuable)...

Dreamtime in a Paralell Universe, or Whatever

No ice? Four peanut noodle salads, right. One of the ginger teas...continue eating. The puu-puu platter comes, licking the air with its curling purple alcohol flame. The plan was laid, the fertility boosters taken, the recombinant DNA summoned from its recesses of shadow and cobweb and black-rose ashes. Now was time to feast, and then to act. No one remembered the fifth circle below, the Leopard of Malice and Fraud.

«∙ª≈∞≈º∙»

They lay, two pearl-haired, eyes aquiver, teardrop shapes; faces on blue linen, slightly raised. Side by side, their monstrous symmetry was obvious to the most casual of observers; far more to the ones ringing the outer dimness there, just there, … if they had dared to look. In the center, pale metallic light sharpened features, banishing kindly shadows to the realms their souls now walked. It was brightest just here; a diademlike band of light fused across their eyes. Neither wakened. Their three mothers, their one father, gnawed the edges of this final stronghold room with pacing; gnawed the walls with anxious looks, gnawed each other with not-looking-at-all.

Your womb.”

Your eggs.”

His sperm.”

My eggs? What about hers?”

“Not mine, anyway.”

Each voice fell flat and wooden; then murky, as if the wood was gnawed into pulp around them. No one looked. No face changed out of the four. Only the two motionless faces in the center of it all, delicately breathing, might once in a great while belie their motionlessness a bit, twitch a cheek, faintly smile. The wires that bound them, the chips that saved, the ever-familiar veils that kept them ever more tenuously apart: all this held suspended, focused, poignant center of a vanishing world. The cracks crept to the doorsill now, powderings and dry, strange flutings of creak that no human ear had ever known marked all that was left of the hallway once beyond. And still the mirror-faces stirred, at times; whispered, even more rarely; and all the pacing four would stop their ears. They were the oracles crouching over their earth-fissure breathing fumes; they were high priestesses and priest of all existence now, just as they had dreamed to be so long ago. Dust and ashes; a wryly bitter alum-puckered humour tingling at the top of their mouths, endlessly. These children. These gods they had sought to bear, these goddesses .., they never had been able to tell. Eris and Aneris chuckled far away, somewhere in a dry deep corner of what-had-been. Eris Who Brings Forth What Is and Aneris Who Devours had found a compromise at last. Now in two sisthers all was to be accomplished; the drawing in was nearly done. Once in a grey creak of dawning, an echo would whisper from the dry lips floating on those pale and icy beds; a phrase, a flower-scent, a gleam of light from the trembling falls atop Mount Traubensee, would slip out from the imploding center within; echoes would sing and the last oracles would cringe away. Time was all they had; and time itself was being slowly destroyed by what they themselves had brought forth.  All hope was gone; all chance of stopping it; action and inaction were both pointless.  All they could do was wait, in horror and remorse.
