Topic: [308917] Maintenance Warning - How Hard is it to be 5 Minutes not 1?

[-308917] Graylen (AU1) [None] :: May 24, 2016, 8:43 a.m.
This seriously annoys the hell out of me and quite frankly I am at a loss as to understand why it can't be 5 min warning instead of the ridiculously stupid 1 minute.

PS Don't BS us about its posted on Forums - NO ONE comes to forums when game is active unless there is another GGE screw up to fix or report.

Reduces the likelihood of people setting up attacks to land when the servers are down. They've explained this many times before.

Tossers like me would fully exploit 5 minutes warning to send multiple attacks out at people lol.

Can you imagine how much carnage you could do, we had it happen by accident with TB when we were massing them and maintenance happened in the middle of our mass, we were down a fair few hits because of the maintenance howeer when they server came back online they had 80 odd horns showing up and 15 minutes to organise defense.

Imagine what Glen would do with 5 minutes warning, guy  might actually WIN an attack Graylen because people wouldnt be able to change set ups or support in time.  Cant have Glen winning any attacks now can we...

Meh. Still prefer 5 min warning. Makes it more interesting.

Further to this......to prevent @JJJJJJSK (AU1) - Shutdown stops the Game? Doesn't seem it be anything that a 3rd grader couldn't figure out how to employ.

@Graylen (AU1)

multiple ways to fix it, I think the best way is if less shutdowns and patches are tested better prior to implementing.  Or end an event dont start the next and shutdown and put everyone in protection for 2 hours then you can give 5 mins warning.

Lots of ways to do it.  Best way is less maintenance.  Problem lately has been one lot of maintenance has led to more issues resulting in more shutdowns to patch those issues etc etc.  While that cycle is in play its goign to hurt no matter what

I wish it would tell you they done a hotfix not that the connection went error you get.

[4430044] Chris2307 (GB1) [None] :: May 24, 2016, 11:09 a.m.
Trouble is, if they shutdown the game or pause attacks during maintenance then people are likely to come on this forum to moan about the time lost on any outgoing tower/nomad/samurai/FI attacks. Maybe not you personally but others will have a moan, so they can't really win on this one can they?!

If they advised everyone that when maint is on it is a complete shutdown then everyone would be aware of it and accidents would not happen !!

we need a foghorn and some dancing bears come up on screen shouting we are
shutting down server so if you have attacks out tough sh-t we don't care.

They just need to have a pop up either referring the the forum when a announcement of a upcoming server update/restart is going to be occurring and the same message to show up in game.(Not everyone visits the forum daily)

This would act as a disclaimer in game for anyone to be wary of starting a feast - but as this would benefit most of their customers it wouldn't be looked at like ideas and suggestions that we give.

Th might as well lock the forum for admin use only.

[4432402] UltraFlavoured (GB1) [GB1] :: May 26, 2016, 11:30 a.m.
LOL

No even mention to what this is about or how long it will last @CM Arcanine @CM Evoke .

Most likely to fix the Spring event which is only showing two events in the sequence.

What happened to the courtesy or a quick announcement ?

BS - no excuse for it this time, no announcement on forum, and 1 min warning isn't long enough. B.S.

Autofill.....

I can set an attack in less than a minute, tooling all 5 waves and simply autofilling troops. Easy. Or can just autofill the whole attack. They most likely won't have time to change anyways.

That explanation was valid before autofill, attack slowdown, and feathers. Now they have no valid reason not to give us a fair warning. They could also disable your ability to send out attacks for a predetermined amount of time before they stop the server. Or force limited protection when you log back in. Lots of different ways to change it to prevent that specific issue. Forcing attacks to return home if server is stopped... I can go on.. lol

Bug fix according to the German Forum.

Apologies for the google translation below.

"Unfortunately we have to make you re on a downtime on Thursday, the 5/26/2016 attention where we (are false rewards appear; Gems) a bug with the rewards will fix the currently ongoing "stranger events" and in the course of the next will begin hours. We are aware that you became already buffeted somewhat in recent days, in terms of downtime and we must once again for your patience thank you here with us and apologize at the same time for the inconvenience that brings this downtime again with him. And even though we would like to do without these fixes, this downtime is inevitable and probably also in your minds to the smooth and relatively Frustration-Free gameplay of the current events continue to guarantee and hope for your understanding!"
