Topic: [319697] TIps for First Time Leader!

[-319697] Ginean (US1) [None] :: Sept. 26, 2016, 8:18 p.m.

Hi everyone!

I am a rather new player, and became the Leader of my alliance, White Knightz, sort of on a limb. All the other members of my alliance are rather new to the game as well, and I was hoping to post here and get any tips or advice from more experienced players on things we can do to level up and improve! Any and all suggestions and information would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all!

Ginean

Do not hit alliances, or players bigger than you. That's a biggie right there

Make sure you build up and capitalize on events now. They give lots of resources that you can use to build your castes more quickly. Capture Food OPs, and if you and your alliance have not used your 1 move, I highly recommend that you move your whole alliance to the outskirts of the Green map, where all the Food OPs are .If you do that, and play actively, you'll be a great alliance someday. Don't waste your time on everwinter if you can't manage your own OPs and castle, but at the same time, enter as soon as you are able, so that you can max your ice castles out quickly. Don't forget to hit the robber barons! Their higher level castles will give you lots of coin and food loot. ;) Good luck and have fun.

I do not know anything about this 1 move.... how does that work and should we do it now?

Will we still have events and Robber Barons, just lower leveled ones?

be part of a large alliance family, or people will pick on you just for being a new alliance with less than 3 members

play more than 5 hours a day, be in top 100 yourself for most samurai/nomad events

give people a reason to join - more than "we will conquer the world" or "we get event rewards"

don't cheat, don't multi-account, don't run from wars, don't declare on other alliances because of something that one of their members did, don't give members second chances when they are new to the game and hit an outpost with 3 spearmen (because otherwise you'll get farmed for trying to train a new player)

have plenty of coins and resources, good personality, and use lots of similes :)

1: Be a leader, not a ruler.
2: Lead from the front (be the strongest player you can be (preferably be the strongest player on your team.))
3: NEVER sell your people out.
4: Always believe your people over outside influences until proven otherwise.
5: Don't hide anything that is important and need to be known.

And the most important one there is and ever will be: Respect is a two way street.

Leader Tips:

Largest: Mood. All alliances have a sense of morale. If you aren't happy, your members probably aren't either. You should want to try to be a realist with an optimist's encouragement. That's a tough one to accomplish but it helps push your team through wars and events.

Second: Family. Alliances that feel connected/have a bond of some sort will always last longer than those who only get together for power or opportunity. Make a connection with every member. Remember that they are people too.

Finally: As a wise man Eric once said, "Every alliance is a sinking ship..." Your goal should be to keep your people afloat. This applies to the first tip especially but it also applies elsewhere. During war, stay active, during events; keep hitting, and if nothing's going on make something go on. Give your people a reason to log in everyday. Activity breeds activity.

These are all the things I made mistakes with as a leader and I figured the best to learn from are from those who failed and know they failed. So long as you keep doing the above, and take the advice from other kind people on this thread you'll do A-OKAY

Levelling Tips:

Activity is the number 1 most important thing. If you're on everyday getting something done, looting, or getting new members you're doing it right.

Looting - The basis of the game. All events and any nearby dead players should be taken advantage of thoroughly. I'd suggest maxing out your wartime looting bonus found in the upgrades tab and declaring war on nearby dead alliances to loot more off of their players. That and the donation and support bonus should be your priorities early game.

End:

Not everyone can be great but you already made the first step towards greatness in asking for help if you needed it. I hope to see your alliance high up on the leader boards one day and for this thread to serve as something you look back on when you reach success.

Happy Gaming.

Choose your battles carefully

Stand at the front of your shield-wall

Your soldiers (members) are your companions, not your subjects

Rank means nothing, people only understand power and the strength of arm and shield

Lead with a compassionate fist of iron, always push to do better

If your morale breaks, so does that of your men

As a leader, put in your fair share of the work, and then triple it

You can fix ignorance, but you can't fix inactivity

While others have already given some great advice, my 2 cents would be to surround yourself with people who are capable of easing the workload on you.  No leader can do it all alone, you need to find the people who you can count on to do what you need, and put them in the positions they need to be in to get shit done.

If you want to have 3 food OPs, i would move your castle before you get any bigger. Hit the little box icon on the bottom of your screen, which reveals a popup menu, hit the Throne icon, and there is a "relocate main castle" button.  You can look around for another plot to relocate to. You'll want your whole alliance out there to grab all the open Food OPs. I suggest you start around the edge like 180:107, and have your alliance members move around there. Look for those food OPs early, don't be like me :P

  Go with the jail mentality.  Hit the baddest person you can find until they dont get up.. My suggestion would be negan

Okay, I am about to show how new I really am here... lol.

I see the throne and relocate. Got that and how to do it. I clicked it and it showed me that I can click an available plot. My question is, when you say 180:107, what does that mean? I see the icon showing me a number in the middle, but that is all I find as far as a marker. Can you tell me how to see the marker number so I know when I am on the edge? I would like to get food OP's because now that my barracks are at level 5, I am constantly having food shortages and I want to be able to build up my resource storage before I attempt the do the Everwinter Glacier.

[4572568] outlaw_always (US1) [US1] :: Sept. 27, 2016, 2:27 p.m.
In the top of the screen there are 2 input boxes, just type the coordinates there and hit enter. I only said 180:107 because it was a spot that was on the edge. You can really choose any spot all around there. Just make sure your alliance knows where to move too, because it is a pain in the neck to send support to your alliance mates if you have a low-level alliance so far away from each other.

[4572571] Ginean (US1) [None] :: Sept. 27, 2016, 2:31 p.m.

Okay. Thank you.

Also, I have been trying and trying to make my own outpost without attacking anyone. Is that possible? How do I go about that?

[4572577] outlaw_always (US1) [US1] :: Sept. 27, 2016, 2:43 p.m.
That's why I'm telling you that you need to go into the open where there are Open OPs. You don't need to attack anyone for open OPs

[4572624] Ginean (US1) [None] :: Sept. 27, 2016, 3:54 p.m.

Okay. So I just find one that is in ruins or something and can capture it?

I'm just totally lost on how to obtain one period. Sorry, I know I sound dumb just cannot for the life of me figure out how to open one! Thank you for the help and being patient with the newbie :)
