This is a fantasy themed story of Graycat's life in-game. Note - the thread wasn't really meant to be read in 5 minutes, take
your time and enjoy the story. It wasn't meant to be quickly read really
fast and then replied to.
In memory of Graycat III, the Kind Hearted, The Undefeated, Leader of Fleur de Sel, and The Resilient
There are four elements that unite the world. Fire, water, wind, and earth. Only a true elemental master could master all four elements. Cyclone14, an insane elemental teacher, had mastered both water and wind and could create a cyclone, for which he was known for. Cyclone and Graycat were allies in another game world, as some will remember.
Graycat was normal like everyone else. He started out as a student in a casual alliance. Graycat quickly rose up multiple positions and was soon the most dedicated member of the alliance. He wasn't afraid of anyone and sometimes foolishly challenged people who were twenty times more skilled. When he caused a fight between his group and another alliance, he left in search of peace and another alliance, which he found.
Becoming more well known to several alliances as a supposedly skilled elemental fighter, he made several friends, but also enemies. As light and darkness can't exist apart from each other, you can't have friends without having enemies.
After being injured in a war, Graycat went into isolation with only a few people who led a quite alliance. They supported his outposts and made sure no one stole what was left of them. It took months to recover, and when Graycat returned, no one needed him, but many people wanted a good leader and were either dissatisfied with their current ones or had heard of Graycat or remembered him and wanted to follow him.
Graycat became a realm traveler who went to other realms, mostly for the adventure of it. Graycat met a friend in another realm who went by the name of Sand During Graycat's visits to that realm, Sand encouraged him to make his own alliance. "Graycat, you could make your own alliance," he said. Still hesitant, Graycat replied that it was hard for new groups and alliances to get members when there were bigger and more powerful ones and when you could even get a position in the service of the Kingdom of Neph, the largest and strongest alliances led by an extremely powerful king in Graycat's realm. "I'd be a member and help you," Graycat's friend encouragingly countered. After a pause Graycat replied "We'll make one, and begin searching for people to join us in a couple of days." Together they went to USA1 the next day and Graycat founded an alliance, making Sand his deputy and second in command.
Graycat's fame can't be overstated. As soon as people heard about it, it only took a matter of hours for people to notice or want to join. Another person from Sand's realm, who had a name which in English means Teacher, also joined that day. Unfortunately for Graycat, and rather humorously, Teacher and Sand were enemies from their realm. Their reaction to finding themselves both in the same alliance was priceless and Graycat made Teacher a deputy too for a little while to keep one from booting the other. After they told Graycat why they were enemies, he smiled and told them that they were both still welcome in the alliance and that ended the war between them and they co-existed in Graycat's realm and in their own too, putting their war in the other realm behind them.
For a long time the people of Graycat's realm had beaten down the nomads in the past so hard no nomads had dared venture near any kingdoms, but shortly after the founding of Graycat's group, a strong army of nomads returned and tried to invade the kingdom again. Delighted at the thought of valuable supplies, tools, and gold that could be gained from conquering the nomads, all of the alliances in the realm began the age long war between the Great Kingdom and the southern nomads again, a war which had been ended for a ages before. Coincidently, the last of the original nomad clan had been defeated by The Great Empire only a week after Graycat began sword fighting lessons in his first alliance.
Because of that, Graycat failed his first attack on the new nomads and true to his name, Teacher, who had played for even longer than Graycat, showed everyone how to attack nomads and taught exactly how to defeat them and what tactics to use. Teacher's knowledge that he remembered from when the old nomad clan was around was valued by Graycat and together they fought the nomads and gained riches and grew in strength. A more harmonious alliance had never existed and everything was utterly peaceful without exception.
But then war clouds began forming. A group had offered to give them protection and let them become an independent part of their network. Graycat and Sand agreed and Sand soon began spending afternoons talking with the group, which made themselves out to be a large and secretive society. Sand's loyalty began to shift away from Graycat when Graycat upset the organization by using the organization's name in a threat to a band of barbarian tribes who had been planning an attack on Graycat. When the organization ordered Graycat to step down and place Sand as the leader, Graycat resolutely refused; "We're no longer part of your group or connected to you in any way then," he said. Their leader replied, "First, you have to fill out a paragraph with specific reasons why, or you'll have to wait until we vote on if we let you keep membership in the group or not. Until then, you're still part of our organization." Calmly Graycat responded "you're wrong," and that was the end of it.
Everything in the above paragraph is not of any weight or significance and happened over a very short period of time, only about a few days in time, but what happened next unfolded even faster… That afternoon Sand went to meet with the organization as he always did every afternoon, only to find out they would have nothing to do with him. Curiously he asked "What happened?" With a sly grin the leader turned to Sand. "We wanted you to be the leader of Graycat's alliance, you're better than your leader and always follow everything we say without question. Your friend Graycat has only been using you as a servant, he's never talked to us more than two times and has no interest in our group. He only joined us because we offered protection, but he had told someone else about us. We're a private society and apparently your leader never even read our rules about not talking to people about our group. You should lead de Sel. Gray and you have only had membership in our society for a week, but we can see you have potential and strength." Sand was persuaded by this, "Well... the others are skilled too, and Graycat is what unites us, but loyalty is important and I would like to be the leader of de Sel, instead of just being second in command." "Yes, and if you want to choose us over that pathetic Graycat... then you'll find a way of becoming leader." "I will. I have the perfect plan already..." *Sand's eyes turn green with greed and envy and grins evilly*
That night Sand visited every member of Graycat's alliance and gave them a sealed message. Before the sun was even up the next morning, Secret, a member and also a loyal realm traveler of Graycat's alliance, ripped open the letter. What he read shocked him and he quickly put on his cloak and ran to Graycat. "Look at this. What in the world is all of this about?" Out of breath Secret dropped the letter on a table and watched Graycat read it. When Graycat was done reading it, he looked up. "Who sent you this?" "Sand did." "Thank you Secret. I'll talk to Sand today." "Why would he say all of that?" "I don't know, but none of it is true." "I'm coming with you, I want to see what Sand says." "Very well."
When all of the members of Graycat's group had gathered together for a private meeting... (for clarification: not Sand's society) They were seated around a table talking. Teacher:"Why did you get demoted Sand?" Sand:"Ask Graycat." Teacher:"Graycat, what did Sand do?" Graycat:"Sand was trying to get everyone to leave and join another alliance which Sand would lead." Sand:"Who told Graycat that?!" Secret:"I did." Oher member:"I told Graycat too." Sand:"How could you both?!" Other member:"Loyalty is the duty of very member, which you seem to have very little of, Sand." Other Member2:"Which is a traitor, one who knows of treason and doesn't tell of it or one who plotted Treason?" Other Member3:"They're both just as treasonous." Sand:"Fine then, I'm leaving. You're all so loyal to Graycat, well fine. I want to succeed and grow. I want power. I want more than what you all can give me anyway." Graycat:"No one wants you to leave Sand, but if you want to you have a right to. You were a contribution to us and you helped me fight any enemies that I had and you challenged anyone who ever said anything bad about me." Teacher:" Graycat, Sand sent me that letter too, but we're all loyal to you." Other Member:"Sand, you're a traitor and a coward." Teacher:"Sand, we all make mistakes, but why not live in peace here? This is a perfect alliance, small, but we're all very active friends and Graycat is the most caring leader in all of the realms combined." Sand:"I don't care, power is more important than all of that. I'll show you all what true success is, and I defy Graycat." Graycat:"Anyone who wants to can leave and follow Sand." Sand:"I'm leaving. Bye." Other Member3:"Think we should tar and feather Sand, or throw him in the dungeon?" Teacher:"Sand is a fool. He won't last. We can move on without him." Other Member1:"Still, It's a shame to lose one of us, a realm traveler and a skilled elemental fighter." Secret:"Never grieve the loss of a traitor." Graycat:"Teacher will take Sand's place as second in command
" Teacher:"thanks Gray
"
Sand founded his own alliance and desperately searched for people to follow him, but this is about Graycat, not Sand. Sand's story isn't even worth telling and the reader is not meant to sympathize with Sand at all. None the less, when Sand went back to his secret society and reported everything that happened, he asked the network leader to let him join an already existing alliance, to which his leader replied, "Sand, you failed. No one wanted to follow you." "But master, I'll join an already existing branch of our network. I will be loyal and follow all you." "Very well, since you always were loyal to us you can join one of our branches." Sand went on to repeatedly spread rumors and insults about Graycat in public, and knowing that de Sel held honor in high regard, he tried to instigate a fight. After a while, everyone had heard of Graycat and Sand. Sand and one of his henchmen argued with Graycat and his friends everywhere, at the marketplace, the city square, even in the middle of the city streets. Sand would interrupt conversations between anyone he saw talking to say how something bad they were discussing was just like Graycat, in doing so Sand became a nuisance to the public. Graycat did walk away from arguments at times, but not everyone did. Soon the entire realm was split between literally Graycat and Sand, and it quickly led to violence. Teacher and Graycat's loyalists tried to stop the entire argument, but with Sand's personal insults there was eventually a duel between Graycat and Sand plus everyone supporting Sand, all against Graycat, all at the same time. Even now, nearly everyone knows how well Graycat fought every war and Graycat's skill. To watch Graycat at times of war always put people in awe of what Graycat could accomplish. Graycat inspired all who ever watched him fight. Sand was an extremely experienced player, and the duel was in his home realm, so when Graycat came, totally unprepared, Sand had an large advantage. Whether Graycat was right or Sand was wrong is not the question, it doesn't matter. It was a personal war, and Graycat wanted to end it once and for all. Starting out fresh in a new realm against an already established player and alliance, plus fighting against Sand's supporters, Graycat made a quick end of the fight in only a matter of weeks. In the end, Sand was dropped from his home realm's alliance, Graycat took his villages, Sand abandoned his own outposts, and left every realm he had ever played on as Graycat skillfully battled Sand on 4 realms simultaneously.
When the fight was over, Graycat continued to live in peace and happily led his group. Before Sand left Graycat's realm, the last realm he lived in, Graycat even invited Sand back. "Sand," he said, "if you need a home you can come back." "No, and I would laugh if you really would let me come back, you defeated me and I never found what I was looking for, power and glory," Sand replied. Sand disappeared off the map shortly afterwards and was never heard from again. The point of this part of the story isn't that Graycat was cruel or liked to farm people out of the game. The exact opposite is true; Graycat honestly never liked wars and didn't like destroying what other people had built. Graycat was always merciful and gave peace to everyone who ever asked for it. However, he usually was the one that was defending. He only a few times got into fights because he wanted them, but evil tyrants who are more powerful often use their strength to heartlessly destroy others out of greed.
Graycat and all of those close to him were happily contented and allied together. Through the next two months they blissfully built their alliance and friendships. They talked together, laughed together, and cared. Teacher was the first member to fall in their group. There still are other books about all that Teacher did for de Sel, his loyalty to Graycat, and his sacrifices for what he cared about, so I won't dwell on Teacher, but the location of Teacher's castle was always kept in Graycat's bookmarks forever, bookmarked as 'my teacher.'
Graycat's alliance reached a total of 45 members, and life was perfect for everyone. Graycat gloriously and contentedly led his band of troops in unity. But after a short time of peace, a golden age of sorts, a group calling themselves the Equalists declared a full out war on de Sel. In a message announced at a banquet by the Equalists, they said the following: "We hereby declare war on Fleur de Sel, Graycat, and all who support him. We have crushed many small nations for wealth and glory. We will kill off anyone loyal to Graycat and pillage all that de Sel owns. We do this only to expand our borders and cause bloodshed by which we claim as our reputation. We will have no mercy and we do not care about anyone or anything that is not ours." The barbaric and cultic Equalists fought Graycat and his forces in an elemental battle, despite Graycat's pleas for peace. In a month of fierce mini-battles between the two groups, Graycat lose half of his members to the Equalists. In doing so, Graycat also lost much land that had belonged to and was personally owned by his members.
A visitor came to talk with Graycat one night after another stalemate between the two sides. "Hello Graycat," said a sinister looking figure wearing a brown robe. "Who are you," asked Graycat. "I am Gain, the 13th leader of my kingdom. We are the Red Lotus." "Then, Gain, what do you want from me and why do you keep sending forces to surprise attack my defenseless members and I in elemental battles?" "We want to restore this realm to its natural order, Graycat. We want to eliminate all other groups other than our own and destroy form of government, alliances, and laws that are against what we teach." "But without leaders, there would only be chaos!" "Exactly, Graycat, the natural order is no order; complete chaos, with no rulers. And we will finish off the rest of those who support you, just like we did to those in distant lands before us. I am only the commander of battle and organizer of the movement, but we want land and wealth." "So in other words, you're nothing more than a barbaric tyrant who wants to rule the world?" "In a manner of speaking, yes. We will all have an equal say, but we want to destroy all of you pathetic cowards who travel to distant realms and help weaker people, and blah blah blah." "Gain, your name is very fitting for a tyrant. If you really want just to destroy my alliance and me, try to." A scream pierced into the night air and Gain stood up to leave. "I think that would be another person with membership in your alliance Graycat. Another member you won't have and another friend we cruelly murdered." As soon as Gain turned away, Graycat sent a fire bolt streaming after him and drew his sword. They fought together, each blocking the other's blows and dodging elements. Suddenly Gain turned and ran, disappearing into one of the many alleyways of the deserted street, but not before getting a slight cut from a dagger thrown by Graycat.
The fighting continued at every turn, Graycat's members were beaten down and they either died fighting, fled to another realm, or deserted, as a couple did. Two even turned traitor against Graycat. The two ungrateful fools sided with Gain and the Red Lotus. Of the two, there was a rather short tempered member who had previously challenged Graycat's ideas, philosophy, and command, another member, Cassidy, a wealthy merchant who wanted to maintain friendship with both sides and became almost an independent third side. Previously, before renouncing loyalty to de Sel, Cassidy had given all of the alliance's funds and her villages to Gain in exchange for peace for all of Graycat's members. Gain never kept his end of the deal and ordered his men to burn down all of Cassidy's outposts that she owned. Then gain personally send his men to repeatedly lay siege and burn every castle, every home, and every village of anyone allied to Graycat, just as he had been doing before he accepted "peace" and vowed he would not continue fighting Graycat's now weakened alliance. As Gain and his henchmen continued and attempted to lay siege and fully capture outposts and castles now that the outlying villages were under Gain's control, Graycat willingly took on most of the attacks and made himself as big of a target as possible in homes of protecting his last remaining members. The war raged on forever. Round for round battles were fought between the opposing sides. Graycat was now down to only a couple members who had fled to another realm, and was left alone to face the onslaught of Gain's forces. Graycat personally fought In the battles, and often took on one hundred people at a time by himself. Graycat's citizens had always been loyal to him and always joined his army to fight, but now with only forty five assassins left, Graycat and his last forty five assassins gave up all hope and prepared for Gain to hunt them down, drag them from their hiding place, and finish them off.
But Gain, as the most selfish tyrant that has ever lived, greedily fought anyone he could steal from, he found himself in a war with the strongest empire in Graycat's realm. Gain at first tried to fight, but soon his barbaric members and him suffered crushing defeats. Gain asked for mercy, something he didn't even understand, and then immediately went back to fight Graycat. What he met was several armies which defeated his first regiment and then began fighting back against Gain. Five castle lords had joined in alliance with Graycat and vowed to stand up against Gain.
The head of state for Gain's other kingdom, DF, who was also under Gain's commander, was a slightly less evil tyrant who made the mistake of taking over the fight against Graycat for Gain. Preparing to lead Gain's 200 members, each with their own armies, against de Sel, DF was surprised one night. Graycat stood outside the door of DF's personal house. "Enough talk, enough waiting, and enough running," Graycat mumbled before kicking in the door, which then snapped off its hinges and clattered to the ground with a bang. In the above story DF could be heard saying "Now Fluffy, I'll refill your milk containing in the morning. There's no need to knock things over in the kitchen looking for food. I personally don’t care if you're hungry or not. Go starve for all I care." Apparently, DF hadn't realized at all what had happened and Graycat stealthily slipped upstairs and threw a sword, embedding it into the wall above DF's head. Startled, DF jumped up and ripped it out of the wall and turned to face Graycat. "What?! How did you break in? I spend an entire hour whipping my slaves into making that lock on the door. You'll pay for that Graycat." After several clumsy swings at Graycat with his sword, DF found himself flying back against the wall making a large dent in it. DF charged Graycat and Gray skillfully thrust his sword out, running DF through with it and permanently finishing off DF once and for all. Graycat wrote a note and tacked it to the hallway before leaving. 'War has a cost. Bloodshed and war, following tyrants, and robbing from the weak and helpless are the only principles your leader is based on.'
Another member joined Graycat's group after that. The new member was likewise, another realm traveler who was extremely skilled in his home realm and who hated to see tyrants succeed. He went by the name of Vampire and was an elemental fighter like Graycat. Very polite and an encouragement when Graycat needed it most, he charged into battle after only being in Graycat's realm for a day. He proved to be a better fighter than all of Graycat's old alliance put together. Wielding two katana longswords, he repeatedly led charges against Gain's members using his own men and looted the strongest members of Gain's tyrannical regime.
The last battle between Fleur de Sel ended with Graycat being the only one standing… That morning, Graycat fought against over 200 castle lords who were under Gain. De Sel destroyed many of Gain's forces and for a short time almost played chess with territory and regiments. But as the battle wore on, Graycat was forced to the edge of a cliff, where still fighting, Graycat evaded a blow and fell, still gracefully, off the edge, but not before grabbing the collar of two more additional enemies in each hand, bringing them with him.
Graycat sacrificed himself for Fleur de Sel and the entire realm, for all his friends and members, and fought until the end, never surrendering. Graycat fought elegantly and with skill, throwing down anything that stood in his way.
Graycat cared about everyone. He was truly the best leader in the world. No one was more skilled than him, no one was more determined, and no one was a better friend. Looking back, if I had a choice between an alliance with 2,000 of the strongest players or any alliance led by Graycat I would chose Graycat's. He was the most sacrificing, courageous, positive, generous, and skilled leader ever.
Other realm travelers, elemental masters, and leaders have risen up before and new ones will continue to rise, but none had ever been better than Graycat, and none ever will be.
The above was a 100% true story, including the following facts which were mentioned indirectly in the story:
-When DeadFred (DF) took over leading the 300 members of DL's alliance families against Graycat's one member alliance, Graycat beat -down DeadFred so hard that Fred had 0 honor and was burning in every kingdom all over the place and had no troops within a couple of days.
-During the nearly year long war between DL and de Sel, most of Graycat's members went down fighting and got farmed out of the game.
-Graycat's alliance was made up of dozens of veteran players from other game worlds who didn't care if their accts. got farmed and who were extremely loyal to Graycat.
-Graycat was a level 20, nearly alone on Int1, who took on Sand on another game world, where Sand was at level 55 and in a large alliance. Graycat farmed Sand and beat him in every realm, although it was an unfair fight from Graycat's standpoint and Sand had every advantage.

Other Member1:"Still, It's a shame to lose one of us, a realm traveler and a skilled elemental fighter." Secret:"Never grieve the loss of a traitor." Graycat:"Teacher will take Sand's place as second in command

Pathetic attempt to be better than graycat? I was ALREADY better than Graycat when the cold war started. In fact, it was a period of hostility, in which we hurled insults or something at each other, threatening to declare or attack the other, even though no blows were actually struck. The instigator of this cold war? Sandravlc.Cold war between you and Graycat? Probably another pathetic attempt by someone to do better than Graycat.

No, that was due to a former member's stupid and idiotic decision to steal an OP from a powerful alliance, despite being repeatedly told not to do so. Result: Not Good. Doesnt really help that I wasn't home when he send his capture that broke the camel's back.Kuivira (US1) said:Is that why you had so many fires back then before you and Graycat became friends?

anyway, everyone's welcome to share their favorite memories of Graycat or quotes from him.
and I got a message asking, so for clarification no one really ever knew if Graycat was a he or a she... or any other personal information at all for that matter... Graycat always was kind of mysterious.

@Kuivira I don't remember that happening. If you don't tell me who wrote that, I can't confirm the validity of that screenshot. Also, that screenshot was in retaliation for a bounty someone else posted on Graycat, of which I completed for generous rewards. I already deleted that battle report, but Graycat was kind enough to post his own on his alliance thread.
