we have had several players join us admitting they are from bulgaria or other countries and boast that they get 1 million rubies for what we pay for 10k - this is the point - saw your comment on another thread that if rubies bough on uk1 or de1 etc. the purchase should be in that countries currency - that would prevent a lot of the "cheats" -Philt123 (GB1) said:What difference would it make what server you are on?
As to the castellian i for one would welcome the courtyard bonus as the commanders seem to be getting silly stats - defenders in the middle ages usually had to be starved out by siege so the defenders always have an advantage !

why not instead insist that the game server be directly linked to how you buy rubies? eg if you play on the BR (or most EURO servers) you pay in Euros...

Basically thats exactly what a VPN it is an anonymization service. It masks the users real Identity from GGE. And hides the real IP address.
GGE is very explicit that the reason for using that service doesnt matter, whether it is for legitimate security reasons, or whether its to gain cheap rubies or whether its enable them to multi account without getting caught. The use is banned regardless of the reason. And the only way to tackle the issue is if all accounts accessing via a VPN are instantly and perminantly banned.
But it is yet another massive issue that GGE are for some reason only know to themselves not prepared to tackle.
I would be interested to know what other servers are like but if you check out the top 100 players in any given event, and the top 100 accounts in any given week in terms of loot, its literally littered with VPN accounts, And week on week the number of these accounts are increasing. And to be honest its not hard to see why, why on earth would you pay £100 for something when you can very easily get the same thing for £25. Especially when you know GGE are very very unlikley to do anything about it. There are lots and lots of players in this game who try to do the right thing, but sooner or later when you get no support from the game developer you are going to do the same thing.
Or you are going to simply quit the game.
The big problem with cheating in this game, is that its not simply just a matter of cheaters taking away prizes away from legitimate players, which is bad enough in itself, but when these cheating accounts are used to directly wipe out every troop from legitimate accounts, used to destroy all the buildings in an legitimate account, and ultimatly take the ops of legitimate accounts. It makes the effects of cheating a whole lot worse. when you have years worth of work taken away by a cheat account, and when the game developers do zero to stop the cheating and protect the real accounts, then where is there to go at that point?
And what does support say about this kind of cheating? it says well if you cant protect your property then maybe you need to get stronger or join a stronger alliance!!!
So the Vast majority of the uk server top 20 alliances all decided to try and stamp this practice out and even most of the top 20 alliances could not knock the op cap of a 2 day old VPN shell account. A 2 day old shell account vs literally thousands of years worth of hard work and experience, building accounts, and it wasnt even close.
Which just goes to show the sheer lack of knowledge about the games mechanics both from the games designers and its support staff, but more importantly shows the sheer arrogance, that players know nothing and GGE know best. And simply demonstrates GGE's complete and utter lack of respect for its customer base, you know when GGE point blank refuse to do anything about cheating accounts even when it knows the devastating effects of these accounts on the games balance, and on the games legitimate players, You know the game is in trouble.
These issues have been in the game for many many years, have been reported many many times and yet, here we are with the very same issues blighting the game, but now 100x times worse, and all GGE can say is we got it under control. I genuinly cant work out if its pure arrogance or pure ineptitude. And I am not sure which is worse!

This really needs a clear statement of policy from GGE and how a BM hasn't picked this up and raised or if they have why there has been no feedback is beyond me. It represents a serious concern and I'm not sure money should be changing hands until the security issues inherent are resolved. Bearing in mind the player base at large has no idea why players have been banned we just know that they have been and that they are openly boosting about being back in other accounts carrying on as if nothing happened. If alliances collectively break the terms and conditions I think we are at the point where you just ban the whole alliance its the only way to guarantee our safety maybe then the responsible players who sit an watch and do nothing and keep taking the PO items from the wins might actually take some semblance of responsibility. Players safety is an important issue. Not something you just ignore. There are enough players concerned that this is escalating. I've personally stopped paying what's the point I can beat VPN accounts just but it's costing me more than it should why would I keep doing that knowing bans aren't being properly enforced.

Says it all BM's posting on the thread but totally ignoring by far and away the most important issue raised in the thread. Just the same as GGE are ignoring the most important issue in the game. Of course I understand that BM's cant give a definitive answer but someone from GGE really needs to.
I even know of players who have been banned for reporting these accounts, ok there may have been frustration setting in after the 500th report where there is still nothing done. But it just goes to show where GGE's priorities, and loyalties lie.

Hi all, sorry about having been very inactive since the new year, real life has been rather unwelcoming to me and my available time. I'm nominally back at the moment, albeit rather less active than I'd normally like to be, but I do want to address the VPN issue.
There's a limit on the information I can share, but I will say it's currently being treated very seriously, and where it involves a large number of cheaply bought rubies due to illegitimate country identification it is being seen as fraud. There are bans being given out on a regular basis at the moment. I'm working as hard as I can with some of the people investigating the issue, names of accounts are being identified and investigated, and consequences bigger than 3 day bans are being discussed.
Fortunately some of the people involved in investigating also play the game, do understand how ridiculously overpowered proxy accounts are, and do care about not letting it impact the honest players - particularly when a lot of the accounts in question have pooled together in the same place.
I am sorry more progress hasn't been made, I'm sure you are aware of how strongly I personally feel about it, but I can promise I will keep poking this issue.

Ughh, more than 3 days being discussed for VPN Ruby surfing? Really? 3 days is less punishment than 10 lashes with a wet noodle. Should start at 3 weeks with no protection if they don't have the guts to just permanently ban from the get go. No Integrity = No Game on GGE's part.
