No, construction slots can be useful in certain circumstances, for example i can upgrade 2 stone quarries when the architect arrives

If an outpost is unowned does that mean there is no one there so I don't have to send many men?

No the outpost still have some armed citizens. Still recomend to sent a spy. So you can sent just enough men out to capture the outpost.

So, I used rubies to rent a building slot for a week and have three days left, but since yesterday the building in that slot is not being built.
The slot was great the first couple days, but now its useless.
There's a sand timer on top of the frozen building in the second slot.
Do you know what's up?

They are being built consecutively, not at the same time. Once one building is done then the other will start.
I have a question:
I am currently lvl 20 and have already attacked quite a few players, but a couple of times now, I've attacked a player and got absolutely NO loot after my victory. Yes, I already know about hideouts and ALWAYS remember to visit my targets before attacking them to make sure they do not have any hideouts. I have even checked them after I attacked them to make sure they didn't build any hideouts real quick when they found out I was attacking them and they didn't have any hideouts. Why am I not getting any loot sometimes?

Go to the quest book. Near the top of the book there will be a bookmark. Click it and there are your daily tasks.

Under Lvl 25, you are in the Big Empire. Above this level you will unlock another Map ( Everwinter). You can see this very quickly by the color of the background. Other way is to use the left Button in the right corner ( maps of the kingdoms).

Under Lvl 25, you are in the Big Empire. Above this level you will unlock another Map ( Everwinter). You can see this very quickly by the color of the background. Other way is to use the left Button in the right corner ( maps of the kingdoms).
If you have the viewing the map, click on your castle then then it will show you your coordinates in the left corner on the Tab marked with the "I".
... And to add on, you can find where in the map you are by clicking on the "i" near the alliance chat and clicking on your main. It will show co-ordinates which is the location of the map you are in. You cannot see your co-ords during Protection because the dove blocks the numbers.

QUESTION...Is there regular storage and then DRY storage also?? I thought i had an icon come up for dry storage upgrade available but could not find where i could build dry storage ! Is maximum storage 41,000? Thanks for any help

I have 8 lvl4 farms a lvl1 bakery and my troop count is around 180 and my food is 170 to the negative. I don't understand this is that to many troops or is the food production screwed up?

You get a castellan when you build an estate, which is unlocked at level 13.

It might be because of the resource production rate at an outpost. If its like 6:2 or 8:2, then only 2 farms produce at their maximum rate. The rest goes down. The bakery should help. Also, your troops might be heavies or vets, both of which consume 4 food per hour. It could also be one of thos darn bugs though.
