I've just started playing empire. Is the game's goal only to build maces, crossbowmen etc and pillage, or I need some defense troops to cover my back?

I would try to get a mixture of both attackers and defenders, if you don't attack very often, you'll be better off making more bowmen/spearmen just because you'll be able to defend yourself from incoming attacks more. But if you do attack quite often, you could have more attackers because you'll be able to feed them by looting food from RBCs and other players' castles.

It's very hard to find... You should look on the edges, were there's new people appearing, that's usually were the new ones show up. You can also look for inactive players, but it's not very easy to find one that still has his villages.

im wondering about the daily chest(login bonus thing..) are they meant to be having better items in them each day ??

They are supposed to, but it's not a sure thing. Today I got 10 rubies, 2k coins and 1 day of tax collector, and I'm on a 7day+ row. Sometimes you get kingsguards, but it's very rare.

When performing an espionage for either military or economic...what does the options for how you're sending your soldiers mean. I mean I know if you select different types of travels regular horse (coins) or with armor for rubies making travel faster, but what does it mean by 6, 10 & 16% of "Fields" covered? Thanks

what is attack speed upgrade for? i heard it is only used when at war... i want to increase the speed of when i attack RBC also..will it help with this?

The "fields" are the square grid that you see in the world map. So, it's how much faster you're going to travel during that attack.

You can use it to attack RBC and to send carts. But it's not very helpful with the RBC, since it works better for long distances. The longer the travel, the better the travel speed bonus.

Well.... You start playing the game, and your castle will appear very small and almost empty. So you fallow the tutorial and learn how to build and make troops, etc.

If you have the premium membership, just click on the bag on the left, and it will cancel him collecting for free.
If you don't have the premium membership, you will have to pay 50 rubies and it he will stop collecting.

You have to build an Estate. I think it is available at level 13, and then you can upgrade it at level 19. The third upgrade is around level 25-35 (not sure)

How do you go up ranks in the alliance?
Someone with a higher ranking has to promote you. Usually it's when you show that you are a good and active player...
