You do know simply posting your age onto this thread is pointless, unless someone's planning to survey the average age of players by counting posts on this thread - which the OP most assuredly isn't aiming to do.
IMO, from what I gather on this forum and in-game messages, this game appeals to a wide variety of age groups, from some people (I suspect under 10s) who don't bother/lack the ability to communicate properly to those older players who you can have a reasonable chat with. Of course, there are exceptions, but generally you can estimate the age of players you talk to.

Hopefully you sense sarcasm, because otherwise I am afraid I would have to tell you that you have a very serious medical condition: antisarcasmitis. This harmful disease has affected such people as Sheldon Cooper and That Hobo Who Lives In The Bin Next Door.

True. Me and my friends, who all play Empire, and are pretty successful in it, are in the 10-18 category, and most of us love MMO's, RPG's, and MMORPG's. But some of my friends, like me, try out all the different types of games that we think is appropiate for us. I am 10 and all my friends that play Empire thoroughly, and don't just stop playing after a few days and complain that their castle's in ruins, are 11. But, we still love Empire. And, people type like 6 year-olds because they can't be bothered tying the right words.BobFighter834 wrote: »I think there are 4 main types of people on here:
1. Children under the age of 8 who play with their parents. The game appeals to them because of the graphics (like the people walking around the castle) and because they can arrange their castle how they want. If they do buy rubies, then their parents pay for them and they spend them all on aesthetic aspects of the game - changing the castle name, altering the coat of arms, buying a king's banner and/or buying decorations that look nice (instead of the best ones). These players often fail to get past level 30, whether they get bored of the game or just spend all their time doing things which don't earn them EXP.
2. Children under the age of 18 who fail to use correct grammar and punctuation, complain when they get attacked and refuse to act maturely in any way, shape or form. They like the game because they like attacking other players. They don't buy rubies, or if they do, then only buy a few and waste them on things like heroes and slots (recruitment, production, construction) without buying a bakery.
3. People between the age of 10 and 18 who play this game nicely, understand that it is a war game and all/most game mechanics (occupancy, melee vs ranged in attack etc.) although they don't make it past level 40 before getting bored of the game and quitting. They like the game for the right reason - because they enjoy MMORPGs and the main parts of this game (attacking, defending, expanding castles and outposts and sometimes alliance politics). They might buy a few thousand rubies, but nothing major.
4. People above the age of 18 who play this game well - they understand all of the rules of this game, however complicated, and often reach level 60 and buy lots of rubies. Again, they like this game for the reason you are supposed to: they like MMORPGs and this probably isn't the first one they have played.
Of course, there are exceptions - I don't quite fit into any of these categories.

Why take the risk and post such a pointless, random comment?
Do I seance sarcasm or a hidden joke?:D
No, of course that wasn't sarcasm.

Proof that there are exceptions - adults do not necessarily read the thread PROPERLY, and neither do some of them post USEFUL comments.

I don't think people can post useful comments in this thread. It's not like we're really talking about something specific in the game here, or trying to solve a problem. And given that the thread has gone from average age to poor orthographic skills and back again does it really matter what people post now? Within reason.
And their comment was still much more useful than many I have seen on this forum.

Well, if tapio actually read the thread, he might have seen post 62 and seen the pointlessness of shouting his age to everyone...

I am 49 & play for fun after work & I think most players are school kids who have lots of time to play. I dont buy rubys as bills come first! I may now and then though. Just new to an alliance & probably not meeting their expectations...If it becomes a challange rather than fun, I'm out. I think an alliance of all the same age r group would b great and helpful

i started playin this game around the age of 10, i started before the beta was released and this was not like on the offical GGS games list yet.
I enjoyed being ranked 6 on the honor ranking in international 1 so i kept playin, my rank droped when i became level 15 and there were begining to be more rubie buyers! back then there was only bakery, deco and other things that you couldn't keep forever such as extra building slot to spend rubies on!
so rubie buyer don't matter! i am not a rubie buyer and i managed to beat my rubie buyer nabours the same level as me and the leader of N.F who quit...
now i am rank 10,000+... i am a sucky player cuz i don't play that much and i am always targeted by my old enemys i attacked... now i kinda understand the game and yea i got 2 pretty decent outposts with Stables level 3, bakery level 4 and rubie moat!
P.S if you spend 1/5 of your lifetime playin this game like me you can actually get some decent rubie things without buying rubies!!!
