You are very much mistaken. I have said nothing even close to that.

there should be a game for guessing why the word "system" is not allowed
the winner could be given an unknown prize (maybe ban for a year, or a lot of resources)

Okay seriously, i really don't see why this discussion keeps needing to happen.
System can be used in ingame messages to try and scam passwords from other players. We have seen it happen a number of times before and therefore system was added to the filter list to help prevent it.

*I find it quite hilarious that we can't say some words in normal conversation because the chat filter, but everyone comes to this thread to discuss at lenght why it is not allowed to be said.
*Some of the words we can't say in PM's in game, but we can on the allliance chat--even the cuss word as intended--not with extra letters or punctuation.

I am glad I'm not the only one having this prob. I was worried about having my account shut down unfairly for making simple mistakes... by the way it has now decided it doesn't like 'Castellan', Estate, Wood, or stone either.
I didn't realise it was multilingual - sometimes I forget that the NET is worldwide. So I guess what might not be a 'rude' or 'offensive' word in English may be the opposite in say... Thailand or France or something because of the way it's spelt.
So long as it doesn't affect my account I can live with it as I really love playing this game...

Hi! I tried to send the following message to a fellow player, but was refused by the system due to "inappropriate language". Can anybody tell me what is wrong with this?
Quote:
Hi! Forgot to mention:
Hope it hasn't happened to you yet, but logging in on my 2. day I found that my army had disappeared without explanation. Discovered on the forum that this happened (and keeps happening) to lots of players, some of which had paid real cash for tokens, usually with army on their way home after victory with loot, which was also never seen again. Support think it is some sort of system bug and say they are working on it, but as far as I know it is not fixed yet, and I doubt that anything will be replaced.
So maybe keep an extra eye on things, and be especially careful about logging off while your army is still out...
Best regards
H.
I have tried with the word "fixed" replaced by "sorted", but still was told to watch my language. I can't find any "hidden swearwords" in the letters of of other words, and it did let me post the original wording HERE, so why not in the game??

(Why I hate the language filter)
Well, I've explained the main reason in the last post on page 4.
But I suppose that I can think of others:
- It doesn't always say what is supposed to be wrong with the message.
- It doesn't actually stop anything - putting a space, full stop (period) means you can easily get around the filter, and there are tons of other ways. This might be the same for all filters, but it still makes all filters almost useless.
- I'm not sure if this counts, but it doesn't allow apostrophes. While I can slow down and say "it is" instead of "it's", it's very hard to get around "Bob's apple" and other cases of possession. "The apple of Bob" sounds very strange.

Hi harlekin999,
Its most probably down to the "..." at the end of your message. a lot of people try to get around the wear filter by added extra punctuation.
Regards,
Malreyn

Thanks for your reply, Malreyn!
Alas- I tried it without the .... & still got told off for swearing!
Any other ideas?
By the way: any news on the "missing troups problem"?
Best regards
H.

Oh, come on. People also try and get get around the filter by doing one of the following:
(Assume "bad word" is just a single word.)
B
A
D
W
O
R
D
Bad.word
Bad-word
Bad|word
Bad*ord
Bad word
Bad_word
Bad\word
Bad/word
etc.
Either remove all of those bits of punctuation and having a new line thing, or remove the ellipsis from the filter.

LOL ROFLOL ... What a sledge hammer to crack a nut ... sometimes you guys are beyond belief ... I thought it was bad enough when you banned words the are rude in a foreign language than not actually telling the user which word it is in a long mail, but banning words in a Mail because some idiot MIGHT be scammed into thinking it comes from goodgame.
I have just had a message blocked with the useful message 'use of bad words will not be tolerated' I spent 10 minutes trying to find the mystery word against my rapidly growing international list of bad words ... when it turned out to be the word SYSTEMS in the phrase 'we can use our outposts as early warning systems' I was confused.
Until i read this post.
Look this whole bad word filter is absolute and totally SYSTEMS rubbish .. at least update it so it tells you the word... for SYSTEMS Sake!!!!!!
Also if someone is gullable enough to fall for this sort of SYSTEMS scam then should you not ban the words such as admin, administrator, moderator, goodgame, ... no no stop ignore these suggestions ... please.. lets not make the SYSTEM any SYSTEMS worse for SYSTEMS sake!!

Alpha, here's the exact thing you could do if system wasn't banned. Remember the filter affects not only messaging but also players names and castle names. So, here goes:
1. Open an account and make your name "system".
2. Send out messages asking players to mail back their passwords and email addresses.
3. A players gets the message with the sender being "system" and assumes it's an official message from the game and sends back the information.
3. Player "system" hacks their accounts.
4. The world ends.
This is the reason the word system is banned.

Baldrick, you are oversimplifying the issue here. They could have set different filters , at different levels, (ie creating account / naming castle / sending message) instead for a global filter.
