I know there are other threads about this, but I think the language filter is getting a bit to GOOD.
Its flogged me for saying assassins. Its flogged me for saying I sent it to u ... X(
I can make the message smaller, but sometimes I need those ... or sent it to u to get the message across.

Have found the same problem when attempting to use dirty words like asset, assert and assume. And, good isn't what I'd call it. Maybe a little human interaction with the filter is what's needed here. I think most here can handle reading above the 1st grade level? But I could be wrong!!!

My account was just suspended for sending an in-game message that included the word "assume" because the first three letters triggered the inappropriate language filter.

Ha ha. I can't send the word Grass, in reference to The Great Empire because of the word ass but I can type as*hole or as shole. Bit silly really.

I hope this is the correct forum to post this to, but I think that the censor on the in-game messaging/chat is a good idea, but it is slightly flawed in that it prohibits words like "assume" and "system" simply because they contain cuss words. Would it be possible for you guys to update the censor to exclude these kinds of words?

I disagree with chat; the only chatting you do is with alliance members. And if someone doesn't like your language, they can leave the alliance or just kick you out.

It has happened to many of us... sending a mail, only to be informed that it contains bad language. Then, upon further review, we see no inappropriate language. At that time, inappropriate language is often uttered at the screen, usually much worse than the original offensive word.
I understand, and appreciate, the rationale behind the censoring. This is a multi-language game, and as such it has to screen offensive words in many dialects. The problem occurs when we don't speak 27 languages and don't know every offensive term in all of them. So we are left to play "guess the dirty word" while editing a message.
My suggestion is simple... highlight (or display, whichever is easier to code) the word that the system detects as offensive. Then we can change it quickly. The system knows the word it detects, so why shouldn't we?
I have no problem using different words... if I knew exactly what I need to replace.
TL;DR version ---> Show us the bad words. 8)

Seriously?
As if it wasn't hard enough already to send messages to members without setting off the chat filter before, now GGS has removed the hint in the popup message.
Before, if you said a word like Assistance it would prompt you that A** is not an appropriate word. This was ridiculous in itself, but now they have removed the hint and the pop up says something like "We do not allow bad language" without telling you what set off the sensitive filter.
So now we have to do a word search, looking for words within words that may set off the super sensitive filter.
Can we fix this please?
ok, now the filter is they way it used to be. Did i just lose my mind this morning or did this happen to anyone else?

I'll have to chime in here. The word filter should have some sense. I've been bitten many times by words with ass in them (assume, assert, assuage, assumption, assassin), and even a player name (yasselbh).
There is no context, and seemingly, the word filter only finds instances of the word, as opposed to determining whether the word continues to say something else.
Either way, it's very aggravating to write out a long message, having used a players' name several times (see yasselbh), and then having to go back, read the message 10 times just to figure out where all the "ass" is.
This is not the ony word to trigger the garbage word filter either, as you all well know. System being the most hilarious of all of them.
Personally, I'm of the opinion that, given the server I'm on (US), the word filter should be filtering out English-based bad words.
Or, here's an even better idea. how about removing the word filter outright, and letting people send reports for offensive language. I know it's a very very difficult thing for people to be exposed to naughty language, as it may offend their delicate sensibilities, but perhaps, if they're so easily offended, they should abstain from playing a war game? Just a thought.
Fix the word filter GGS, add it to the (likely extremely long by now) list of things that are seriously broken.
Regards,
Blargfoo

system is a word that the filter says is a bad word
write assault troops, and it thinks you are saying the three letter word for a donkey instead. The filter is way too sensitive

even if it did tell you what words you used how are you going to get around saying words like wood? I mean it's a basic resource the filter should at least be a little better than that.
