I recommend not trying to be inactive to get rubies for a few reasons:
1. If you don't have a high enough level, your castle can be ruined in 1 month
2. Everyone will steal all your resources, and light a bunch of fires that will take a month to repair
3. All your soldiers will be slaughtered
4. You'll most likely get kicked from your alliance

I hate how hard it is to get rubies, but I still won't stay offline that long just to get a couple of rubies

Here is a tip, staying offfline is a way to earn rubies if you are on vacation or something. In response to rexxor, if your really active(like green activity bar). One week of inactivity is nothing, even for low lvs.
Your alliance will only kick you if it is a really good one, once you go into ruins, your immediatle a target.

OK, I have gained thousands of rubies from RBC. They are the best. GGE increase the amount of rubies you get from them! If you attack level 20's you can get a lot of rubies a week. Then the Barbarian fortresses. For the person who said the Taxes quests are good he is wrong. They do run out after a while. I ran out like ages ago. I have hardly any quests left except for the ones in the new worlds.

i have done it before you post this thread
yet that is true
you should do this as soon as you make a account then log off for a month that is a better to get rubie because that time you dont have a castle for anyone to attack

Those accurate enough will gain much,if you go on EXACTLY when the game offers you the login gifts of rubies, you can be active, but not lose much form attacks. But going into ruins is a point to bring up, if you go into ruins, you become a target for attacks, people will think you won't retailiate.

If you go online every day for a month, you receive (among thousands of food, wood, stone and coins) 280 rubies automatically. On top of that, you earn rubies for some quests (robber baron, joining new worlds, building towers, attacking castles and some others), most events (shady character, glory tournament, king of the robber barons), robber barons (and other world equivalents e.g. barbarian fortresses, which give a whopping 150 rubies per attack), by levelling up and through reaching new achievement levels.
Just one shady character quest and the 280 from logging in would give you more than the rubies you would from staying offline and earning 375, and last time the shady character came, I earned 300 rubies (it comes more often than once a month, as well). It also removes disadvantages such as being removed/demoted from/in your alliance, losing sword brothers, being attacked (people can attack even when you are offline), going into ruins and wasting resources when you reach maximum storage.
In conclusion, staying offline for a month just to earn 375 rubies is pathetic. Besides, there is no point in having an account if you barely play because you are too busy staying offline for rubies.
By the way, the "ruby" is the correct word and "rubies" is the correct plural. "Rubie", "rubbie" and "rubbies" are not words.

some people can earn 500 in 1 day, so 280 rubies per month doesn't look so good :P

The rubies are not displayed in the battle log; you only see them on the troops returning screen. Either you did get the rubies but you didn't notice, or you mistook a barbarian tower for a barbarian fortress.

that is the worst idea ever 2 reasons
1. your castle would go into ruins
2. who wants to not play this game for 2 weeks just so you can upgrade faster?
