I stumbled through the crude gates of the Baron castle, the pain of my wounds nearly unbearable, I had taken the armor of the Barons I had defeated in battle, and when the castle sent an attack, I disguised myself as one of the wounded soldiers returning from their loss against a lord, I was flocked, and taken to their hospital, which was not a very good one, but it was the best option, so I let them treat my wounds, the Barons were kind to their own members, unfortunately not to outsiders, after a while of their care I left them, I said it was a transfer to a castle mounting an attack, they reluctantly let me go, I went to where I had stored my horror equipment, which was better than what I had, I equipped it, and set out again, it had gone by so fast.
I felt like it had already happened, the wounds did not take long to cure, as I gave them guidance on what to do, wait, I gave them guidance on how to heal me?How had I known that?
I sat down and prepared to eat, when I opened my pack I realized it had been raided by animals.
"Great".
I shivered, the weather had gotten colder, by a lot.
I wondered how Ludwig made this trip so fast, I pulled out the map I had stolen from him, it led him to, Everwinter, to be specific, the Great Glacier, why would the emperor live there, from what I'd heard that was the coldest place in the world, before the radiation had made it colder, it had been called Antarctic, which was not nearly as dangerous as it was now.

I made my way into the cold depths of Everwinter, I had ran out of food, and was desperate for warmth, I could not move very far, and that was painstakingly unbearable, I knew I would not survive long, for I was losing strength, I needed shelter and food, fast. Unfortunately, it would not happen to be there, beckoning for me, I would have to go from castle to castle, and beg from them, and I would have to choose, right the first time, for I would not survive for a second chance.
I made camp until the sun would decide to smile on me, which would be doubtful, but, I could only hope for a fairy-tale like occurrence, as I set up my camp, my fingers began to get frostbitten, and I could no longer work with them, I tried to warm them up, and just in time, I would have to do with what I had, I should have prepared better, again I thought of why the map would send me here, I lay down, and huddled up, I think it may have been the cold knocking me out rather than falling asleep naturally.
********************************************************************
"AROOOOOOOO!" I was awoken by howling, the howling of wolves.
I jumped up, strapped up my armor and grabbed my weapons, then I got behind a rock and readied my crossbow.
Snow made it impossible to see anything, it got in my eyes, and covered my vision, I saw movement out of the corner of my eye, out of the corner of my eye I saw something black fly in the snow, I turned and saw it disappear in the opposite direction of where I was facing before, I heard another howl, this time louder, I turned around, and prepared my self, no time to wonder about birds in Everwinter.
I waited for the wolf, and when it came bounding from in front of me, I took note of a few things, it was a BIG wolf, and, that I was afraid.

Just then I woke up, it was just a dream, a nightmare, I pushed on as best I could, although I did not make it far.
I stopped by a rocky hill, and set up camp again, there I sat down on the freezing stone, I groaned, desperate for food, I could barely move, everything was numb, and turning purple, I could not make it farther, I could not impersonate a barbarian, and castles were few in this region, I would have to beg from the closest one, not far away, but if they did not except me, I was doomed.
I looked to the castle I had been traveling towards, it was about a mile away, on a sunny day I had seen it, and shouted for joy, even though it had been at the edge of my vision.
I pulled out my map, I saw I was getting closer, once I had rested at the castle, assuming they would let me in, I would be there in several weeks, the Great Glacier was far south.
Now I wished a wolf would come, so I could eat it, I was that hungry, I was surprised with myself, that I would wish a wolf to come, and wolves did not come alone usually.
I thought to myself as the cold began to knock me out, tomorrow, tomorrow this will all change, and I heard the crackling of the ice, I heard the caw of a bird, I heard the scraping of creatures walking across the ice, I heard the panting of the creatures as they breathed the frosty air, I heard the whistling of the snow, and I heard the howling of wolves, and I thought, it won't be there tomorrow, it won't haunt me with paranoia, it won't bother me anymore, no more things to bother me in the safety of the castle tomorrow, tomorrow, the sun will let it's rays beam down on my flesh, and I shall be renewed with enough strength to make it to the castle, and tomorrow, they would except me, for who would turn away a soldier, especially a tough one, to make it this far in the terrible conditions.
"Now, how would that be" I said as warm breath blew over my face, somehow I had neglected the wolf standing over me, then I fell asleep.

"Boy, you don't know the trouble you're getting yourself into" said a deep, rough voice, raising me from my sleep.
I opened my eyes and the first thing I noticed was that it was warm, the second was the wolf.
I sat bolt upright, and twirled wildly, reaching for where I had left my sword last night, I was starving, I felt my stomach hurt as it growled.
"I had a feeling of that" said the wolf.
My mouth dropped open, I could not move.
"Better get used to it" it said. "Are you gonna eat that or not". It nodded toward a piece of meat. "Cause I'm not, it's all cooked and everything".
I got up and ran to the other edge of the room as fast as I could, not seeing my weapons, I decided I would have to fight with my hands.
"Hey"! it growled slightly while saying that, I'm not gonna be this kind usually so eat up, the only reason I'm not helping you is cause you are going after the emperor. "Now sit down and eat"!
I walked over and sat down, and began to eat.
"I suppose you know who I am"? I guessed it was a he, he, said.
"Only bits" I said. "...Fenrir... I believe it was".
"And who might you be"? He asked.
I thought hard about that, "I'm...me".

except he is using "quotes" which implies I would speak after he has asked me to be silent so as you know I am "confounded" at this point and literally beside myself ...

It would be hard to co-write the book, Fenrir will not be in it for long.

"So you don't know your name, you forgot it...when you came out of that...machine of yours" Fenrir said.
I had told him about the machine, the...time lock capsule.
"Yes" I said.
"Hmm...well, you must be on your way and I must attend to my duties as the guardian of this land".
"But you have been missing for decades"
"Hmm, I cannot enter the light of day without being captured by the emperor"
I realised then, that the reason he had helped me is so I can get rid of the emperor so that he may walk freely and protect everwinter again. He sent me off, I, renewed from the food and rest he had given me, I set out, following the map I had stolen.
I would find the emperor soon, I was approaching The Great Glacier. Later on, when I passed the castle I was going to rest in, and I heard the sounds of shouting.
There was a mob, people with tomatoes were crowded in the square, I listened to them.
"These people, have been starving us, throwing us out of our hospitals, sending our families on suicide missions so they would not be without an army to send into battle, and attacking random castles, killing us off so they can be the favorite pets of the emperor...NO MORE!" one said.
"NO MORE, NO MORE, NO MORE, NO MORE, NO MORE, NO MORE!" the crowd chanted.
"If we were to hang them we would be no better than our new enemy, the emperor, if we were to let them go, we would be too kind to our enemies, we shall shame them, and then, lock them in prison for the rest of their lives, that is less than fair after the crimes they have comitted!" they said.
"Then we shall procede to destroy the emperor and fix the empire!"

I mingled with the crowd and joined their cheers, I could have an army to help me now!
"Soon, we will march towards the gates of Ardleby and tear down the precious flag of the Emperor"!
"And what of the others"? asked someone in the crowd.
"Their ways are no better than the Emperor's"!
"We will set out for the fiery lands of the Peaks"
Wait, had he said the Peaks, but the Emperor's palace was right in the Glacier, not too far.
I determined these people had no idea what they were doing and had been told that he was there by the people who had previously been in charge of this castle.
I walked away from the castle and followed my map farther into the Glacier, it had gotten colder and darker, I had luckily had several hours of sunlight to travel quite far though, I set up camp, ate and watched a bird fly around, while the sun lasted, then I fell asleep.
This was a barren lifeless wasteland where it seemed people would be left to die, not to live here, I wonder why the Emperor lived here again.

I climbed an icy hill, strength had been sapped out of me while trying, there was an awful storm, and the hill was dangerously hard to find footing on, I was bruised, scratched, and beaten by this hill, who would've thought, but I could not set up camp yet, I was so close to my destination, I gathered up some of my remaining strength and courage, and took a couple more steps, tapping to see if it was safe, with wind blowing at me, snow stinging my face, and and blocking my vision, I could hardly move my frostbitten legs, desperate for warmth, I huddled up, and sat on a animal skin I had been given, I had not eaten in days, and I was way past scrawny, I decided I could not make it up the hill today, I set camp, and looked at the map, judging from all the distinct shapes on the map, I was very close, over this hill, and for couple more miles straight, then enter the rocky formation, and there the castle would be, I would make this right, "diplomatically", I could not take on the Imperial Army.
I chuckled softly, this Emperor had done too much harm to this world.

I set out again in the morning, it was tough packing everything on the slippery ice, and tougher to walk up the hill, after a couple hours of slipping, scratching, and bruising, I got to the top of the hill.
As I looked at the horizon, I wept for joy, the circle of mountains was only a couple miles away, I ran for a while, as best as I could with all of my stuff on ice, in the snow, although the few hours I had spent on the hill had been the only light the day offered, I traveled the rest in dark, I reached the mountains when the sky turned pitch black.
I would have to wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow, though was too dangerous to do anything on though, and the next day.
I would not survive two more days without food. I felt a stab of pain in my stomach, and I crumbled to the ground, my eyes teared up and I could barely move.
I pulled myself together and the sun showed it's face on me, I stood up shakily and found the entrance through the mountains, I saw a castle, but something was wrong.
The castle was in ruins, no lights appeared, it certainly was great at a time, but it had been abandoned a long time ago, the walls had holes in them, were falling apart, covered in long icicles, and frozen solid, the gate was practically not there, all that was left being a few rotting pieces of wood, from what I could see, the inside was the same as the outside, destroyed, and abandoned.
Had someone else gotten here, then it hit me, straight in the face, I remembered a certain castle wanted freedom had known, and I now that they had been right.
The map was a trap, designed to lure you to your death, I would die of cold and hunger if I left, and I would die of hunger if I stayed. Of course Ludwig wouldn't keep his map in the open, I sat down, and I remembered.

I saw myself in the arms of a family, I could tell I was young, and that we were poor, then I was ripped away from their arms by men in armor, I screamed and, fought and my family wept.
I saw myself being battle hardened in training, I was taught to resist emotion, and to fight, for two decades. I saw myself in silver and gold armor, I drew my bow along with hundreds of fellow soldiers, I was confident, I was a hero among my comrades, I was at the front of the army, I placed an arrow in my bow, and aimed, and then the horde of my enemies sprinted down the hill, we fired, but the attackers blocked every shot with steel battle mantlets, I now knew we had been sent to our doom by our ignorant king, arrows rained down on our swordsman, slaughtering all of them, the mantlet walls parted, opening up spaces, we fired, killing some, but then the swordsman burst through the opening, charging with their shields in front, I took down a few, but these were skilled men, and their shields blocked almost every shot, they began to slaughter our archers, I called a retreat, we backed into the castle, our gate reinforcements did little, but our murder holes set fire to many of them, flaming arrows shot through our slits slayed them, and for a moment, I thought we were winning, rocks fell on our enemies, but then the soldiers broke the reinforcements, and got through, an insulating mat burned a few, and a tar pit caught a few by surprise, but it did not help against the onslaught of them, they defeated our central gates, and one flank, with their siege towers, although we retreated from our flank to protect the courtyard.
Weary and outnumbered our soldiers were slaughtered by the horde, I rushed through the fight, slaying all who opposed me, several comrades followed me, I had my sword out, slashing, and stabbing, I saw a man at the back of of our opposing army, he was in armor of great honor, and commanded all the forces, I led the last of our soldiers to him, and we shot him from his horse, we then ran up and stabbed repeatedly.
This did not stop the army, but it left them confused and weak, we killed them all, but at a high cost. I swung at one, they parried, this continued 6 times, until they were shot in the chest several times, I ran to the next enemy, but as I passed the man felled by arrows, he swung out at me, catching me by surprise, he sliced my leg open, I stumbled to the next enemy, quickly stabbing them in the back. I was sliced several more times, and I fell to the ground, nearly dead, I saw a raven over me, and I thought it would feed off my carcass, it cooed, and a medic, dragged me off the battle field.
I saw myself in a hospital, healing well, I received a letter, it said my family had been killed in the battle.
I saw myself in a field, the great professor was meeting with me, he was young, and intelligent, he wanted me to test something, I accepted.
I was in a room, salvaged from an advanced time period, before it was all destroyed, I got in a machine, when I got out, I did not remember anything from before, and I stepped out of the lab, and into a new world of technological wonders, in a couple years though, nuclear warheads were dropped on a city, and I reentered the machine, a new scientist that looked like the other one in charge.
When I stepped out, the world had gone through major problems, but had rebuilt itself to greatness, I was welcomed by the scientist, AGAIN. He told me that we went through a nuclear war with Russia, but it ended when we sent a atom bomb into every nuclear warhead producing factory in Russia, blowing a quarter of the earth off the planet, he had a test for me, one last one.
"Are you sure you want to do this" said the scientist.
"Yes" I said.
"Are you ready to be the first human to be preserved in time?'
For some reason I felt like this had already happened to me.
"You'll be fine, I'll only freeze you for a while, then I'll take ya out and see if you aged, or if there were any side affects."
The doctor placed a sample of my blood to see what had changed when I came out in a blood storage device.
I took a big breath and I said "Yes, I am."
He looked pleased, see you later, he closed the time lock device door.
When this was done the door to the lab exploded open, several people in masks ran through the entrance.
The blast knocked the scientist back against the control panel, a large chunk of metal crushed him and destroyed the panel, the amount of time being in time storage increased from 1 year to 5,000 years, doubted it showed the correct time anyway, it would take many millennium for the power to run out.
The roof on the other side of the room started to collapse, the thieves said something unintelligible, but I suspected it had something to do with "I TOLD YOU WE SHOULDN'T HAVE BLOWN THE DOOR" with a lot of curses. I tried to open the door, but it had already sealed, I watched helplessly at the crushed bloody bodies.
As the see through door fogged up, I passed out, and I wouldn't wake up until about 11367, about 10,000 years in the future, I would be here for a long time.
I wonder what advancements they'dve made.

And I knew my name.
Gedeon Gaius.
Gedeon Gaius.

I thought I would die just learning my past, but a large, black, bird landed on the ground next to me, cooed, and dropped some berries.
Overjoyed for food, I reached out and scarfed down the berries, the bird looked funny, like a dove but it was not, could not, it had black feathers, instead of white.
I remembered a bird that looked just like this this one in the Prairie Lands, but it could not be the same bird. The dove thing flew off and, while I finished the first berries, it returned with MORE. This time I examined the berries, not letting my stomach think for myself, for the berries seemed to satisfy my gut renching hunger. I had not seen anything like them before, they were yellow, almost golden, with stripes of blue down it's sides. I looked at it suspiciously, but my hunger began to ebb away at my strength again, so I eventually gave in to temptation, and polished off the berries.
Oddly, I was no longer hungry.
"Thanks." I said to the bird, joking around with myself.
The laugh was ended when the bird replied, "Why you're welcome".
