How do the number of troops protecting the villages affect the food per hour in the everwinter castle?
Found the answer - rv 's are not included in the castle barracks total food consumption in the bottem right corner of the barracks. You have to add them to find total food consumption.

In Everwinter Glacier new resource villages started to spawn right when I got the loot warehouse. And So many spawned. People from over 100 miles away are coming to take them, and now there is no more left. I have managed to get 3 food resource villages. And I didn't get to capture stone or wood

Just a quick update ...
I took the advice of grabbing resource villages near me and sure enough within 12 hours I get emails from the alliances (filled with lvl 60 members) declaring war against my alliance. Now, every member in the alliance in every world is being attacked. And I no longer have an alliance.
The answer to grabbing resource villages before lvl 60 is most definitely a resounding NO!
Bigger, more powerful alliances made up this unwritten rule to preserve their monopoly over the rvs. Then, if you're unfortunate enough to have been placed away from the edge of one of the worlds, or don't have upper level stables and fast commanders, you'll never get an rv. If you try to take one, since it is a war game, these alliances get to take the moral high ground and attack everyone in your alliance, often without explanation. That way, when a level 60 attacks a level 20 in your alliance, it's not bullying, they're just enforcing the rule. And since they have all the rvs, they can outproduce you and support more troops, so you can never beat them. But don't worry, "the law in its august majesty prevents the rich, as well as the poor, from sleeping under bridges."

Funni I was told the same thing by GRUMPY KING alliance! I apologized and retreated and they still attacked me twice in THE GREAT EMPIRE to "Teach Me A Lesson." I knew that unwritten rule was rubbish! Just wanted to find proof! This world is definitely for higher levels and elite alliances... there's no room for us little ppl.I was told not to attack the villages because there's sort of an unwritten rule among the players that no one will attack each other out of respect, so I was trying not to do that. I'll just have to keep trying.

It's an unwritten rule for a very good reason. No one can ever hope to protect all their RVs if everyone attacks RVs left and right.Funni I was told the same thing by GRUMPY KING alliance! I apologized and retreated and they still attacked me twice in THE GREAT EMPIRE to "Teach Me A Lesson." I knew that unwritten rule was rubbish! Just wanted to find proof! This world is definitely for higher levels and elite alliances... there's no room for us little ppl.I swear there should be a 2-3 resource village limit for every player, bcuz some players are just plain greedy!
Each players are allowed 5 of each types of RVs in EW. That means you'll have 15 total. Just assume you only put 50 soldiers in each RV plus 50 in your main to protect them. That's 800 defenders consuming 4 food each per hour. That's 3.2k food in EW. Can you produce that much?.
Ok, so you have level 4 bakeries and food consumptions are lots less. Big deal since if someone wants to attack you, 50 defenders are not enough. So you'll have to increase number of defenders which will means lots more food needed.
If there's no unwritten rules, you'll be forever fighting back and forth to gain your RVs. Do you really want that?
Also, all resource productions are very low. You can't build OP in EW. If there's a limit of 2~3 RVs each, it'll be pointless to go there. You'll need to constantly ship resources over there from your main, which will be very expensive. It's not being greedy to try and get the maximum allocation of RVs. It's just plain common sense to try and maximize your output.

I just got one stolen from me but in their alliance description they state stealing RVs means war. It's a written rule for you not to steal theirs but they can steal yours.

Not being able to do something without causing war is one thing. Not being able to do something full stop (period) is another. That alliance seems reasonable enough: no-one says you shouldn't retaliate on stolen RVs, but banishing the idea of stealing it in the first place is a stupid "unwritten rule".

I like the unwritten rule. Because I have 9 rv's. Over the time I've been on the ice I've had 4 taken from me. I was not strong enough to do anything about that. Now I am, and I maintain 9 rv's. Now when somebody takes an rv from me they get a spanking. Because the people that take rv's are the people that have none. So if you take one, realize I have 4 more food rv's and food and troops. I'll be right over to take it back.
How did a lv35 player get 9 rv's? (And I've had 9 since lv 32) I paid attention. I go for it every time they drop. I keep fast troops around to get there first. Thats how.
This unwritten rule is there for a reason. It's there so i can feel good about myself for hitting you over and over and over again for taking my rv. My alliance mates feel good about it too. We think that you should provoke us this way, all the while buying more charcol burners to make more charcol that you will never spend. Do you really think you are ever going to get 11,000 charcol? NEWSFLASH! if you have 11,000 charcol, you dont need 5000 coins.
Scan the map, find open rv's. Dont take other people's. People put in long hours and hard work to get those things. Dont send me emails with cheap rationalizations about how you took mine because you dont have any... justifiying the fact that you are lazy and cant master game mechanics. It's not going to make me click the white flag and bring the troops home. It's going to make select my arson general.

Personally, the extra areas are what will probably make me quit playing this game. They are realms for bullies and big alliances. There is little change to survive in this game without spending tons of rubies or joining a mega-alliance. Nothing highlights that more than the extra areas - where you can't get RVs unless you spend tons of money to upgrade to a level 3 stables or get big enough to keep from getting bullied. And unfortunately, the big alliances use their size to pound on unaffiliated folks. So the rich get richer. It proves that GGE is a pay-to-play game. I understand that on some level because it is a business. But when the ultimate conclusion is that you cannot be competitive without spending 100's of dollars - then I think they should not advertise it as a "free" game.

Resource Villages usually show up on the corners of the world map. so you have to look all the way in the corners of the everwinter map. In the UK kingdom (as I am) you are not allowed to steal occupied rv's. most of the time, try looking for players in ruins, or you might as well suck it up, go look for new rv's on map, but they will usually get occupied by other players which means your attack will bounce back, so you have to be quick.

I have given up, i am tired of looking. I do not play in the other kingdoms. I have castles there just for the EX points but trying to explore and grow in there is pointless!
